Stepped Up Non-Traditional Christmas

header

Welcome to our October NEW AT SU! Blog Hop! We love to share creative card ideas from Stampin' Up! with you. Today we are featuring a set of stepped up cards from a simple beginner stamps, ink, & paper card, to a little more complicated casual stamper card, using DSP and a few dies and finally, an avid stamper card, using the works. The design, though remains relatively the same idea. The products used are from the Annual Catalogue or the 2022 Jul/Dec Mini Catalogue! I settled on a Christmas bundle from the Annual Catalogue entitled "Trimming the Tree". Here's a look at all three designs first:

I've made good use of the new (and old) In Colours in my project and these non-traditional Christmas colours really bring a touch of bright nostalgia to the cards.

Let's first look at the simple stamp, paper and ink card:

simple card

  • Starting with the Tahitian Tide card base, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Trimming the Tree stamp set in Tahitian Tide ink all over the front flap of the base.
  • On a piece of Soft Sea Foam cut 4 3/4" x 3 1/2", I stamped the main tree outline in Polished Pink and the basket for the tree, as well as the sentiment in Tahitian Tide. I used some Parakeet Party to stamp the star on the top of the tree.
  • I wrapped a piece of Tahitian Tide Metallic ribbon around the bottom of the Soft Sea Foam Panel and added the panel to the card base.
  • I added some In Colour Matte Decorative Dots to the tree for decorations.

Now, let's take a look at the same design, stepped up a bit for the casual stamper:
casual stamper

  • For this one, I added a layer of a Polished Pink design from the Celebrate Everything DSP - a host reward from the July/Dec Mini Catalogue.
  • I die cut a Soft Sea Foam panel and a backing from Parakeet Party using the Deckled Rectangles Dies.
  • On the Soft Sea Foam panel I stamped the tree out line in Polished Pink and the Shadow tree stamp in Blushing Bride, lining it up with the Polished Pink image.
  • The bucket for the tree and the sentiment are stamped in Tahitian Tide, as before, and the star is stamped in Parakeet Party.
  • This time however, I stamped on some garlands and ornaments in Tahitian Tide and some more stars in Parakeet Party.
  • I added a strand of both Tahitian Tide, and Sweet Sorbet Metallic Ribbon to the bottom of both panels glued together before adding them to the card front.
Finally, let's see how I stepped up the design for the avid stamper:

avid stamper

  • I ran the DSP through the Stamp & Emboss Machine with the Stitched with Whimsy die before attaching it to the card base front.
  • I die cut the Soft Sea Foam with one of the Deckled Rectangle dies, then embossed it with one of the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders.
  • I also die cut a stitched circle using the Stylish Shapes dies and added that to the front. I also added a piece of the Tahitian Tide metallic ribbon to the bottom of the Soft Sea Foam Panel before adhering it to the card front.
  • I die cut two trees, using the outline die and the texture die, one in Polished Pink and one in Blushing Bride. The Blushing Bride layer is behind the Polished Pink Layer and you can see it when you push up the cut out branches.
  • I also die cut garlands, ornaments, bows and a star and basket from Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party and decorated the tree with them. I added a little bow in Sweet Sorbet metallic ribbon to the tree basket.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Tahitian Tide on Parakeet Party and then die cut with one of the dies from the Tree Trimming Dies.

I hope you enjoyed this stepped up card made with the Trimming the Tree set

It's time for another sketch challenge at As You See It Challenges and this time it is brought to us by the lovely Joanne James! I love this one because there is definitely a recognizable shape, but there is also lots of room for being creative and I'm really looking forward to seeing all the entries!! Here's the banner:

challenge #284

I'll bet you have lots of ideas, don't you? I wanted to highlight the Perfect Partners Promo before it's over. So I used the Trimming the Tree stamp set from the Annual Catalogue and the time limited dies that coordinate with it that are only available until Sept. 30. They are definitely handy and create a look that you couldn't get with the stamps alone.

  • On a Merry Merlot card base I added a layer of Copper Foil sheet and a slightly smaller layer of the Lights Aglow 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper in Evening Evergreen.
  • My pendulum layer is Merry Merlot cardstock embossed using the Merry Melodies 3D Embossing Folder.
  • I  2-step stamped the Christmas tree from the Trimming the Tree stamp set in Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent on Basic White and also stamped the garlands, bow and the sentiment in Merry Merlot.
  • I die cut these with the coordinating Tree Trimming Dies, available only until September 30th. With the same dies, I die cut the other trimmings from Copper Brushed Metallic Cardstock and the tree holder from Gray Granite cardstock. The sentiment I die cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies.
  • I assembled everything, popping up the tree and sentiment using dimensionals.
  • I added some copper Brushed Metallic Dots at the end.
