Casing the Catalogue (or Not) for the 2020 Aug/Dec Mini Catalogue Launch!

Over the weekend, I held my second online Zoom Catalogue Launch, this one for the 2020 Aug/Dec Mini! It turned out well, I thought, considering my relationship with the technology! I avoided the feedback I had last time trying to use both my phone and tablet, but I had trouble hearing the participants unless I muted my mic. Which doesn't work great for the host of the event, as you can imagine. So I did a lot of muting/unmuting for the duration! Nevertheless, we played 2 games plus bingo, reviewed the catalogue, had snacks, and did 2 make & takes. I included the games, bingo cards and make & take packets in the Party Pack, along with some yummy treats, and delivered them before the Launch. I also made many samples from products in the new 2020 Mini! I wanted to share them with you today, so you can see what's available and how it can be used:

These samples mostly highlight the Snowflake Splendor Suite from pgs 36 - 38 in the Canadian English Aug/Dec Mini catalogue. These samples made good use of both the dies and the sentiments and stamped snowflakes. What a great suite, and perfect to perfect your technique making shaker cards! I also took the time to fashion a small gift box from some of the Snowflake Splendour DSP! I think my favourite is the little 4" x 4" Snowflake Wishes card on the left!

Then came the Autumn theme display using the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series paper and the Gather Together Bundle and the Autumn Essentials dies. My favourites are the little plaid pumpkins. Some of these cards will be part of my September Online Class.

Right in the middle of the fireplace mantle, the Merry Moose, gets another chance to shine this year on a rustic banner in red & black buffalo check. The moose is featured again on another catalogue case in the background. I was able to make use of the Wishes & Wonder Bundle with the reindeer card and sleigh set up in front and there is another piece of the autumn display featuring the Autumn Greetings Bundle on the far left. On the far right you're also seeing the start of the Poinsettia Petals Suite display.

This display may be my favourite of all of them.  The Poinsettia Petals display features a variety of poinsettias: made by die cutting the images out of the Poinsettia Petals DSP, by die-cutting and embossing (at the same time) the petals and leaves and then assembling them to create the flower, stamping and colouring the petals and leaves and then die-cutting them with just the outlines. There are some beautiful embellishments with this suite as well.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the samples and I thought maybe you might like to play along with one of the games we played:

Look carefully at this doctored copy of Aug/Dec Mini Catalogue Cover to see how many of the 11 missing items you can find, comparing it to the real cover. Send me an email at hcooper52@gmail.com with your answers. The first right answer I receive will win a package of the Plaid Tidings 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper free!

Poinsettia Dies are Amazing!

poinsettia dies are amazing

The Poinsettia Dies that bundle with the Poinsettia Petals stamp set are a whole amazing story all on their own. They can die cut three levels of a flower to put together for sure, but they also have an inset for the dies that embosses the veins on the petals and gives them that extra realistic texture. The same goes with the leaves, and centre. It's a set that is really worthwhile having. If you don't want to emboss them, you can stamp the petals and leaves with the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and then just die cut the outlines. That's what I did here

The other thing I noticed when I was die cutting pieces of this card for my Catalogue Launch make & takes on Saturday was that the leaves would make great holly leaves, too. I can feel a wreath taking shape!

Take a close-up look:

  • Now you can really see that embossed texture in the leaves and petals!
  • The berry sprigs are also a die cut from the Poinsettia Dies.
  • The sentiment is from Poinsettia Petals stamp set and is embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on a tag die cut using Tasteful Labels dies.
  • The background Designer Paper is from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper. I also added a strip of Gold Foil Sheet to the card front and some Real Red 3/8" Sheer Ribbon tied in a little Fork Bow and wrapped around the foil. I love the whole vintage look of this card.
  • It's easy to curl the petals of the flower with your bone folder and attach the layers together using Glue Dots.

Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder Adds Sparkle

evergreenforest 3D embossing folder

If you know anything about me, you'll know that I love a bit of sparkle! And today's card certainly is not lacking in that department. Between Silver Foil embossed with the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder and the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, and the Snowflake Adhesive-Backed Embellishements, there's hardly a place on this card that doesn't sparkle a bit! But the great thing about our new Glimmer Paper is that it doesn't shed! You heard me correctly. The glitter stays put!

I used a forested background from the Feels Like Frost 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and embossed that with the same embossing folder to add more realistic texture and so the silver foil almost looks like a highlighted part of that same forest.

The sentiment, from Snowflake Wishes, was stamped in Highland Heather. It was die cut with the Stitched Rectangles dies and backed with Glimmer Paper die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

The Snowflake Adhesive-Backed Embellishments add some extra sparkle!

This will be one of the two make & takes for our catalogue launch on Saturday!

The Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine is now available to purchase, as is the new Magnetic cutting plate! I am very impressed after having used this machine for a month now. It is easy to use, it has excellent pressure, it's sturdy and has a small footprint for space in your craft area. I highly recommend it. If you would like one but money is an issue, may I recommend joining my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine Club which will enable you to pay smaller monthly payments to eventually get it. Contact me, whichever way you would like to order it.

Stampin' Up! has a new Starter Kit Promotion this month. You know that the Starter Kit, where you pay $135 and get $165 worth of current products of your choice without shipping costs, is already the best deal Stampin' Up! has, right? Well, when SU adds on extras like this, it just makes the deals sweeter!
For the month of September, when you purchase the Starter Kit, you will get card kits enough for 16 cards, envelopes included, two stamp sets and a package of embellishments. There will be recipes available on the SU website for making each sample and all the help you need from me to be able to host your first event! With that behind you and a couple of new customers to support your business, you can take your business anywhere you want it to go!

That's all for a Wednesday! Happy Stampin'!
