Sometimes Things Are Better Than They Seem

Sometimes, things turn out better than you think they will.  In fact, most of the things I worry about never turn out to be half as bad as I imagined!  You, too?

I wasn't enamored with the card I made for Dynamic Duos this week.  I messed around with different ideas and finally got a card together that I was okay with, but overall - meh.  Then I photographed it for my blog, and when I looked at the photo, it looked great!  Not sure why, but perhaps the colours in the Dynamic Duo's Challenge #88 gave it the crisp professional look I was after.  Here's the challenge logo:

And here's the way my Valentine card worked out:

  • It must be the combination of Island Indigo, Real Red and Whisper White that creates all this crispness!  The geometric look of all the background panels also helps.
  • I decided to make a 3D heart on my card.  I first stamped it with the heart image from the Language of Love stamp set, then die cut three hearts using the Hearts Collection Framelits.   I glued the three together and left the first and last with a free end, which I glued to the paper.
  • The DSP you see here is from the Designer Series Paper Stacks.  The Real Red is from the Brights Collection and the Island Indigo is from the Regals Collection.
  • I stamped the little hearts garland from Language of Love, in Real Red, coloured in some areas using Island Indigo, and cut them out by hand.  I later learned, as I was punching some heart-shaped cardstock to add to them, that the Little Heart Punch coordinates well with them and I could have used the punch instead of hand-cutting!  Too late for me, but I bet you can put that info into use before Valentine's Day.
  • The sentiment is from Express Yourself and I punched it out using the Ticket Duo punch.  I like the way it looks, popped up on Dimensionsals, without any backing to it. Plain, simple and crisp!
So don't worry about things today, Be Happy!
