Well, yesterday I got inventive! I've been waiting for a long time to get the From the Herd stamp set because I had this awesome idea for a cute technique to use with it. On Monday night, I finally got the stamp set and I couldn't wait to begin working on my idea!
Everytime I saw a card made with this stamp, I noticed that some of the animals' heads could be layered over their bodies due to a "chin line" if you can see what I mean. I thought it would be fun to make those heads 3D and, in fact, kind of bobble heads! I just needed to figure out how to make the springs to accomplish this.
- First, I stamped the image twice. On one image, I coloured everything in using Stampin' Blendabilities. On the second image, I only coloured in the heads of the pig, the ox and the goat. Then I carefully hand-snipped the heads using Paper Snips.
- The sentiment is also part of From the Herd, and after stamping it on Whisper White, I used two framelits from the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits to create the sentiment frame you see here.
- To make the springs, I cut out two strips of cardstock narrower than the head and glued the two ends together at right angle to each other. Then I folded the underneath one across the upper strip, then folded the upper strip across the previous one, and kept repeating that until my spring was long enough. I glued the top ends together and trimmed off the excess. Then I glued one end to the body of the animal and one to the head, matching it up with the image below it.

This card is sooooo cute! What a creative idea to make the springs for behind the heads. I love it :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute card Heather! Thanks for sharing this idea. I have always wanted to do this with another stamp set but wasn't sure how. Now I have no excuse for not doing it! :)
