As a crafter, I often take so much for granted. I have the unrestricted use of my hands! I can see shapes and colours and designs and I have the ability to view what I am creating. I can use my brain to come up with my blog posts and I have the hand/eye coordination to type them out. But over the last couple of days, I have been fighting a really nasty virus that has really knocked the stuffing out of me. I spend most of my day lying in bed or watching TV, but I do try to get down to the craft room to make something I can share with you, my readers. The worst symptom of this virus, though, is the inability to focus on my work. My eyes are so unfocused, it's like I'm almost seeing double. It makes stamping really difficult and blogging close to impossible.
So, hopefully, today's card is all in one piece without any glaring problems, because I might not have noticed any errors. I used two challenges to inspire this project, The Paper Player's Colour challenge:
and Mojo Monday's sketch this week:
- I love these pretty, soft colours together and, since Crisp Cantaloupe is one of the featured colours in the Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper, I chose this pastel ikat design for my background panel. I backed it with So Saffron cardstock on the Crumb Cake base.
- The sentiment is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and is stamped with Wild Wasabi ink on the Whisper White cardstock and punched out with the 2" Circle Punch.
- I got out my Bird Builder Punch, which hasn't seen the light of day for a good long time to make my little brown spring bird with the yellow wings and perched him on some branches created with the same punch and some rosettes from the Artisan Embellishment kit. The pearls in the upper right are also from the same kit and I coloured them with my blendies.
- The ribbon is Wild Wasabi Seam Binding ribbon and it adds the perfect contrast.
