Swirly Bird Sailboats for The Global Design Project

I am really enjoying playing with all the new toys I was able to get in my preorder for the new 2016-17 Annual Catalogue. One of my favourite so far is the Swirly Bird Bundle* which includes the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits*.

I found I could combine two challenges today. There is a lovely colour challenge from The Global Design Project:

And good old Mojo Monday has this Challenge sketch:

Here's how I combined them:

  • I used the waves from Swirly Scribbles Framelits* and cut out one set in Island Indigo and one in Mint Macaron. I used the Mint Macaron waves but some of the filler pieces from the Island Indigo die cut to create the ocean surface here.
  • Some masking was required on the two sailboats. I stamped the full sailboat (4 different stamps) on a piece of Post It Note and cut it out. I then inked up the different stamps separately while keeping them all on the same block, which wasn't that hard to do. I stamped each piece separately, making sure the others were really clean each time.
  • I used one of the Swirly Scribbles* for the circular element on the sketch, die cut in Tip Top Taupe. I added a circle of Island Indigo with an inner circle of Whisper White stamped with the anchor from Guy Greetings in Mint Macaron. I stamped the banner from Thoughtful Banners* in Tip Top Taupe and the sentiment from the same set in Island Indigo. Then I stamped the same anchor on the banner so, when it is mounted on the circle, it looks like it is see through!
  • I did sneak in a little spot of Peekaboo Peach* for the sun using another stamp from Swirly Birds stamp set*.

Such a fun card to make!

Just a reminder that it's the last week to order retiring products from both the 2015-16 Annual Catalogue and the 2016 Occasions Catalogue. You will be able to order from the new Annual Catalogue June 1st. If there is something you want, be sure you get your order to me by next Monday at the latest, but the sooner the better, as items are disappearing much faster now.

I had a few responses regarding whether or not you would like me to offer Product Shares for the new Annual Catalogue, but I need a few more before being able to decide. If you haven't already done so, please answer the following quick questionnaire:

Click on the links below to take you to my On-Line Store, where you can read about, look at, and purchase if you wish, the products used to make this card today.
