It's been only 10 days or so since I caught the nasty respiratory bug at my daughter's place, but it feels like a lot longer to me. I guess when you spend your waking hours (which are many) coughing, time goes by slowly. Anyway, yesterday seemed like the first day I really saw any significant improvement and I was able to finish my newsletter and get a card done for Freshly Made Sketches.
I spent my sick days, stayin' alive and binge watching Stranger Things 1 and 2. I'm a little late to the Stranger Things bandwagon, since I thought it was going to be too scary after seeing the first couple of episodes. But being an X Files fan, I decided it couldn't be much scarier than that and gave it a fair trial. I was entertained and had something to take my mind off coughing for awhile! I was also able to stamp at least something most days and yesterday I decided to design something for Freshly Made Sketches challenge #311. I immediately thought panels of DSP and the first that came to mind was the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper, so I dug out the whole suite and came up with this:
- Again, mixed metallics are one of my joys this season, as I used the DSP itself, along with the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape, and my embossing powders. I added a metallic doily and some Copper Metallic Thread to add to the look.
- I used the specialty washi tapes to border the gingham patterned DSP and frame the starburst patterned one. It gives it a great, finished off look.
- The sentiment was embossed with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder over a small snowflake stamped in stamped off Smoky Slate. The wreath it's inside is stamped in Versamark ink and embossed with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder. This is popped up on dimensionals with some Copper Metallic Thread and added to a Gold Metallic Doily added to the bottom of the inner panel.
- The sentiment is punched out with a 2" Circle Punch and glued on to a Starburst shape punched from Champagne Foil Sheets using the Starburst Punch.
- While this is great for Christmas or New Years, it would also make a great Wedding card!
