Every Monday morning needs a little extra something to brighten it up, right? And I have just the thing this morning! It's a new stamp set called Leave a Little Sparkle. It has unicorns! You can't go wrong with unicorns! And when you do unicorns with Gorgeous Grape and Coastal Cabana, it's all that more magical! Am I right?
This is actually a sample for my next Technique Night classes. The theme of the classes is Ribbon Techniques. We're going to be tying bows, dying ribbons and gathering ribbons! For this card, the technique is how to tie a Double Finger Bow, which you see on the card with the polka dot tulle ribbon.
- I started by stamping the sentiment, to make sure I had it straight before going to all the work of stamping and colouring the main image. The sentiment is from the Leave a Little Sparkle stamp set as are all the images shown here.
- The swirl at the bottom is stamped in Coastal Cabana to give the unicorn a cloudy image to stand on.
- I stamped the unicorn itself last, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the Memento ink as it is water soluble and I was planning on colouring the unicorn using the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, so they wouldn't smear the outline if they touched it.
- I used the Pool Party Stampin' Blends Combo to colour the unicorn's body, leaving lots of white areas, as I wanted this unicorn to have a white appearance.
- The mane, tail, hooves and horn are coloured with Highland Heather Stampin' Blends Combo, and with the Light Bermuda Bay and Dark Pool Party Stampin' Blends markers.
- The Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon was used to make a Double Finger Bow and it was attached to the card using adhesive on the back of the Coastal Cabana matte.
- There are a few Woven Threads Assortment of Sequins on the card front, for a little extra sparkle as well as a layer of Wink of Stella on the mane, tail, and hooves.
- Hopefully, you can see the Wink of Stella a little better in this pic. Check the mane, tail, horn and hooves.
