Band Together on a Monday

I'll have lots of samples for you this week from the up-coming Holiday Catalogue, as I'm participating in two Blog Hops, one Tuesday night and one Wednesday and both will feature the new products, but right now, I'm still demonstrating Annual Catalogue products that I haven't used yet!! I know; shocking isn't it?!

Today the products I'm showing you are the Band Together Stamp Set, the coordinating Detailed Band dies and the Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper.

These sets got saved til near the end for a couple of reasons. As beautiful as the Mosaic Mood paper is, it's also very busy, and it was a challenge to know how to properly use it. You need a large image that will hold it's own against the busy background. Secondly, the colour scheme, is not one that I'm naturally drawn to, so I often pass over it for that reason, because the colours in my mind don't include these.

And as much as I love the dies in the Detailed Band dies, the coordinating  flowers in the Band Together stamp set don't attract me very much although they are nice to colour in, and I knew I needed more of those for the sake of my Stampin' Blends use. I do like the shape and wording of the sentiments, however, and the way they fit inside the flourishes and labels of the Detailed Bands Dies.

  • I used three shades of Yellow Stampin' Blends to colour my flowers: Mango Melody for the center, Daffodil Delight for the petals immediately surrounding the center and So Saffron for the outermost petals. I used both dark and light shades of each colour. I felt that Old Olive was my best choice of the ones I had for the stem and leaves. I used Light Soft Sea Foam to provide a backing.
  • Using the Layering Ovals Dies I die cut the image with the largest oval, but since there isn't a scallop oval big enough to provide a matte for it, I die cut two of the largest scallop ovals and overlapped them on the back of the image to provide a layer almost all the way around.
  • The sentiment, from the same stamp set, Band Together, was stamped in Garden Green ink, die cut with one of the labels from the Detailed Band Dies, and glued to the back of one of the labels, die cut in Gold Foil. Some 1/4" Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon was added to the back using glue dots and the whole thing was mounted on the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
