Speedy Royal Peacock in Purple for As You See It Challenges

Ah! The dreaded Speed Stamping Challenge rolls around again! I was never any good in a time-pressure situation and I probably never will be! It's Friday and time for As You See It Challenge to issue an new biweekly challenge. And this time, it's a speed challenge in shades of purple! Here's the challenge banner:

If you've never done a speed challenge before, the rules are that you can gather your materials and your thoughts, even sketch out a plan, but, as soon as you cut/stamp/glue/emboss/etc. the timer begins to run and you only have 10 min to create your card or project. So you have to keep it simple!

Here's how mine turned out in a time of 9 minutes, 38 seconds:

  • Yes, I was cutting it fine, finishing up just under the 10 minute wire! I do tend to fumble when I am being timed so it makes everything that much slower, but I really thought I would do better this time, as I really knew what I wanted to do. The only thing I changed was making my background plain white instead of using the overlay stamp of peacock feathers to add a stamped off background. I did it then turned it over because it looked better plain white.
  • I  stamped the peacock from the Royal Peacock stamp set on a separate piece of Whisper White in Highland Heather ink, then added the second layer in Gorgeous Grape. That took a little time just to line up properly. I used the Detailed Peacock dies to die cut the bird and glued it onto the card front close to the right side.
  • On a scrap of Whisper White, I stamped the sentiment , also from the Royal Peacock stamp set with Gorgeous Grape ink, then used the Stitched Labels dies to die cut it and I also die cut a feather out of Highland Heather cardstock using the Detailed Peacock dies to glue underneath the sentiment. I mounted that with dimensionals part way down.
  • The card base is Gorgeous Grape with a Highland Heather matte.

I placed my preorder from the 2019 Holiday catalogue yesterday and it was incredibly hard to keep the total down to a manageable number! But I can hardly wait to get my products and share them with you! I will also have catalogues coming and the best way for you to get a hold of one early is to either place an order in the next week or two, or to take advantage of the awesome special we have on right now on the Starter Kit. 1. Oh, no! The dreaded speed challenge! This is a beautiful card. You did an amazing job in ten minutes. Die cutting gives such an added impact doesn't it? The fact that the challenge colors are purples will be a great temptation to attempt it.

  6. Thanks, Vicki! I don't plan out my cards ahead of time very often, except when I do these speed challenges, so maybe I should consider doing it more frequently!! LOL
