Babies are a Season of Chic for As You See It Challenge #282

How do you make a Baby themed card for the latest As You See It Theme Challenge when you don't have any Baby themed stamp sets? This was my dilemma this week thanks to team member Jan, who created this challenge. I had to get creative, so I went to my favourite stamp set, Season of Chic, and also one that I haven't tried yet, Amazing Silhouettes, and I come up with an artsy kind of baby themed card. Here's the challenge banner:

And here's a closer look at my design:

  • The thing that made me choose the Texture Chic suite in the first place was the Petal Pink paper with the gold foil polka dots, then I found out that I only had one small strip of it left!😞 So I chose a multicoloured one with flowers as the theme, to add it to.
  • I was given the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set at one of Stampin' Up!'s online events but I hadn't used it yet. I thought it would work well as a focal point if I used the butterfly silhouette on Basic White using Soft Succulent ink. I die cut it with one of the stitched circles from the Stylish Shapes Dies and also die cut a backing from the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper one size larger. I mounted the butterfly off center purposely so that I could use part of it to partially back the sentiment.
  • The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments stamp set (as is the inside sentiment). I stamped it in Gray Granite and die cut it with one of the Stylish Shapes squares, turning it so it was in a diamond shape.
  • After that, I stamped two of the two-step flowers: one in Petal Pink and Gray Granite and one in Pool Party and Soft Succulent.
  • I die cut several accents in the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper using the Chic Dies, including outlines for the flowers, smaller flower outlines, and leaf outlines. I also cut one of the grid texture elements that is so unique to this die set.

I assembled all the pieces as you see here and added a bow made from Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon. Hopefully, butterflies, flowers and a few visible polka dots are enough for a baby theme! Oh, and here is the inside sentiment:

Necessity is the mother of invention!! Is it time to think of Halloween yet? Apparently, yes!

I always find that my September Paper Pumpkin kit provides some great treat holders for the trick or treaters that come to my door. Mind you, I don't get a lot of them, so if you do, you could save them for a special few or for a party. This September's kit looks to be the same, so if you want it you'll need to sign up before September 10 HERE.
