It's time for As You See It Challenges again and this week it's a recipe challenge designed by former Design Team member LeAnne Pugliese. Here's the Challenge Banner:
As you can see, to qualify for this challenge, the card must display a masculine theme, blue tones and earth tones, a die cut and twine. I felt that sailing was a good masculine theme and I kept the card fairly clean and simple, so that the Let's Sail bundle was a good set for this challenge.
- I used cooler tones of blue and earth tones, like Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, Early Espresso and Sahara Sand.
- On a Night of Navy card base, I added a layer of Sahara Sand cardstock, embossed with the Cascading Ruffles 3D embossing folder on it's side to add a wavy texture, but not before adding a sailor's knot made with navy and tan twine.
- On a piece of Basic White cardstock I stamped an Early Espresso boat, a Night of Navy sail, a Sahara Sand jib and the sentiment in Night of Navy, all from the Let's Sail stamp set.
- Since I don't have the coordinating punch, I fussy cut the boat pieces out and die cut the sentiment with one of the Stylish Shapes Dies.
- On a stitched circle, die cut with the largest Stylish Shapes circle dies, I stamped some Balmy Blue water, with a stamp from the Let's Sail set. I glued on the boat frame right on top of it, then added the sails using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
- I backed the sentiment with a stitched square die cut with the next largest Stylish Shapes square from Early Espresso cardstock.
- I backed the image circle with larger circles made by long ago retired Circle Framelits in Night of Navy and Balmy Blue.
- This was glued onto the card front and the sentiment frame added with dimensionals.

Love this, Heather. I don't have this set - it works so well for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deborah! I haven't used it much, but it seemed ideal for this one!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! I really like the softness of the stamping - it seems somehow nostalgic. I have a friend who loves this set but I don't have it. Great choice of embossing folder as it gives the impression of waves.
ReplyDeleteI love the detailing on the sailboat image in this set Heather. I tend to use it on CAS cards so it's lovely to see a stepped-up version. The background embossing and the twine and knot detail all add to the nautical feel and are a great way to add interest to a masculine card.
