Two-Tone Flora for As You See It Challenge #292 - Raindrops on Roses

two-tone flora for aysi #292 1

This week it's a Fill In the Blank Challenge over at As You See It Challenge. This one was created by Team Member Deborah and has to do with our favourite thing about spring. Here is the challenge banner:

To do a Fill In the Blank Challenge, you simply complete the sentence on the challenge banner by filling in the blank and then make a project to illustrate those words.

My favourite thing about spring is all the new flowers blooming and here's my card to illustrate that, using the Two-Tone Flora stamp set & dies:

To be honest, it was a toss-up between new flowers blooming or the birds returning, because I love both, but I don't have a lot of bird stamps that I like and I was dying to try out the new Two-Tone Flora stamp set along with the Fancy Flora DSP that comes in the same suite, so flowers was a no-brainer!

  • On a card base of Starry Sky cardstock, I added a layer of the Fancy Flora 6" x 6" Designer Series paper. I love the look of an oil painting texture.
  • I stamped several flowers using the two-step stamping technique. The colours I used were Petal Pink with Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather with Starry Sky, Pool Party with Soft Succulent, and Daffodil Delight with Soft Succulent.
  • I stamped the long trailing leaves in Early Evergreen, and the smaller leaves in Soft Succulent ink.
  • I die cut all the pieces and adhered them to the card front, using glue dots for everything but the largest purple flower and one blue flower. These I used Stampin' Dimensionals for.
  • I added Festive Pearls in Pool Party to the Yellow Flowers.
  • Since I didn't purchase the Something Fancy Bundle that goes with this suite, I used the Charming Sentiments bundle to add a sentiment.

  1. Like you, it's the combination of the flowers coming up everywhere and the birds making a great racket as they start the spring nesting season. I love your exuberant bouquet of flowers - and that is the thing isn't it. Spring is always about an abundance of flowers! So clever to combine the DSP for extra depth and then those really eyecatching stamped and die cut blooms as the focal point. Vicky x

  2. It is the thing, Vicky! I love all the colours everywhere you look and you have to really enjoy it while it lasts, because spring blossoms are done so quickly!

  3. I just love the riot of colour that your card showcases Heather - it really is reminiscent of the return of colour to gardens and hedgerows as spring arrives and winter is sent firmly packing! The DSP behind really makes those flowers stand out - gorgeous!
