Using My Retiring Marigold Moments for As You See It Challenge #296

marigold moments for aysi #296

Being a Stampin' Up! blogger is hazardous at this time of year! When I first started creating this card, the Marigold Moments stamp set was still available. Now it is sold out. I'm so sorry. You can still get the dies as I write this, but who knows when it publishes?? Things are flying off the shelves, so to speak, very rapidly, so if you need something, you'd better pick it up quickly! The deals are just that good!!

I wanted, in the next month to highlight retiring products from the 2022/23 Annual Catalogue and 2023 Jan/Apr Mini Catalogue before they are gone May 2 or when they sell out, whichever comes sooner! This time, for As You See It Challenge #296, we are doing a sketch challenge and the Marigold Moments just seemed to fit! Here's the Challenge Banner:

The challenge is called, "Balance" and I think you can see why! It was designed by fellow Design Team member Jan! I thought the Marigold image would fit well in the circle element, but let me tell you a secret about that image and the reason I purchased the stamp set: those marigolds remind me more of carnations, and carnations are my favourite flowers! They are also my birth flower for January!

  • The card base is Soft Succulent, a 2021-2023 In Colour, which is retiring, very sadly! It's one of my favourites. Luckily we get Lost Lagoon, which can take it's place in a pinch!
  • The next layer is 6" x 6" Kraft paper - also retiring, sadly. I love the look of real Kraft paper, so rich!
  • The small panels of DSP are from the Fancy Flora 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper which is also retiring after May 2.
  • I used the Stylish Shapes dies to die cut the image circle from Basic White cardstock; neither product will be retiring. The Stylish Shapes dies also die cut the sentiment flag. The sentiment is from the stamp set and is stamped in Evening Evergreen, another retiring In Colour.
  • The Metallic Mesh ribbon under the Marigold image and the Gold Faceted Adhesive Backed Sequins are both retiring!
  • I used Balmy Blue for the outline of the floral shapes and Pool Party for the inside! I was really happy with the effect. Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen formed the leaves.
  • The Marigold image and the sentiment are popped up on dimensionals.

  1. I love the combination of your pretty blue marigolds with the indistinct patterned paper Heather - they make a beautiful centrepiece. The retiring list is most definitely the SU blogger's enemy at this time of year - but the way that I see it, there will be those who also purchased early and will now be even happier to see your inspiration!

  2. The blue marigolds work a treat, Heather. I like the way you've picked up the colour from the abstract paper design. The loose design contrasts well with the more formal flowers. Very pretty indeed!
