Magnolia Mood for New at SU

  2023 hop banner

Welcome to our March NEW AT SU! Blog Hop! We love to share creative ideas from Stampin' Up! with you. Today we have projects featuring a different product from the Jan-April Mini Catalog (or new Online Exclusives) to demonstrate a project that ISN'T A CARD! I chose an Online Exclusive product called the Magnolia Mood bundle to create a home decor project. I'm actually just using the Magnolia Mood dies, and the Flowering Zinnias DSP, as the Magnolia Mood set doesn't have a coordinating DSP.

I decided to use the embossing dies in the Magnolia Mood die set because they make such stunning images! I had previously used them to make a card and was amazed at the detail, so I decided to make a small framed piece of home decor. For the card, I used white cardstock, but I was left with the feeling it needed more. I picked a piece of green DSP from the Flowering Zinnias set and thought that using Basic Black cardstock for the magnolia die cuts would really stand out against it.

  • I started with a base of Basic Black cardstock measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I adhered to it a piece of Flowering Zinnia DSP measuring 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" or whatever size will fit just inside the opening of your frame.
  • From Basic Black cardstock, I die cut the large embossing die and the smaller single blossom embossing die.
  • I added these to the DSP using Black Dimensionals.
  • I wanted to add the words "Sweet Home" but I couldn't find letters the right size to die cut, or those specific words to stamp, so instead I balanced the design by adding some black Classic Matte Dots.
