It's Here! The 2017 Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration!

Today I have a quick card to share with you using the Nailed It Bundle, but the BIG NEWS is, of course, that today is the day that you can at last order from the new 2017 Occasions Catalogue. And coincidentally, today is also the start of Sale-A-Bration 2017!! Can I hear a rousing "Huzzah!!" from the crowd? Click on the pictures below for the downloadable PDF catalogues:

Please let me know if you would like your own hard copy of the catalogues and I will see that you get them. You can email me or text me at 250-768-7379.

Sale-A-Bration works like this: For every $60 you purchase on one order, you earn a free product that you can choose from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure! It's as easy as that! Just make sure your orders reach those multiples of $60 before shipping and tax.

If you join my Stamp Club and have your Reward Month during Sale-A-Bration, or if you host your own party during Sale-A-Bration, you only need party sales to reach $330 to have your rewards increased by $35 more dollars!

And if you join my team and become a demonstrator during Sale-A-Bration, you get to choose two free stamp sets of any value to add to the already great deal that your Starter Kit already represents!

Now, one of the first things we are doing this year, as a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators in our group is to have a Shoebox Swap based on new stamp sets in the new Occasions catalogue! Basically, each demonstrator attending designs a card using a new product and then cuts enough projects for everyone else attending and puts all the supplies to make that card in a shoebox. When we get there, we each take a shoebox and make the card in it, then pass it on to the next person, and make the next card and so on until we've created all the designs that were brought that night. We go home with a bunch of great ideas for our classes, lots of fun and laughter and deeper old friendships and delightful new ones! How great does that sound?

My card used the Nailed It Bundle from the Urban Underground Suite of products (pgs. 46 - 48):

  • My card started with shades of Crumb Cake and Early Espresso, but evolved into Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Silver Foil and Delightful Dijon. It all came down to the Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper I wanted to use - the 2" strip at the top. It worked much better with the latter colours.
  • Good old Hardwood - another hardworking background stamp that would be a good one to have in your arsenal! It's a good background for a lot of styles: masculine, rustic, beachy,....
  • The wood panel needed a backing and Silver Foil was perfect, but it's not cheap and there is a way to get that for the backing and all the silver for the tools and nuts without using extra foil. It's quite possible to stamp all the tools in the center of the foil and die cut them with the Build It Framelits, along with two nuts, without having it show at all as you use the foil to back the wood panel. Just smart use of your paper.
  • The hammer and screwdriver were also stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink on Delightful Dijon cardstock and die cut. Then the handles were cut from the rest of the tools and glued onto the Silver Foil version of the same tool, matching up the stamped lines evenly.
  • The sentiment is from the Nailed It set and there is a matching hexagon die. I used the coordinating Urban Underground Designer Washi Tape to secure it on the card.

Well, I won't hold you up any longer. Go and pour over that catalogue! And drool! And make your Wish List - your loooooong Wish List! Let me know when you decide!

We Might As Well Dance!

Well, I was going to film my Preorder Reveal for you yesterday, but things did not go as planned! I find that life rarely does, and after awhile you learn to roll with the punches! That's why this card is so appropriate! A couple of my family members are going through some rough spots right now, and while relief is in sight, they are a little worn out by the stress and the uncertainty. Ironically, they were both dancers at one time in their lives, so I'm dedicating this card to both of them.

Life may not be the party we had hoped for, but while we're here, we might as well DANCE!

Good advice, I think. Dancing is a great way to release stress and express emotions! I took piano lessons for years as a child, but secretly, I wanted to take ballet lessons. I don't know if that would have been a great idea, as I was such a clutz, but who knows? It may have helped!

This card features two of my favourite things from the new Occasions Catalogue: the stamp set, Beautiful You**, gorgeous with it's sketched images and awesome sentiments, and the new Watercolour Pencils**, which are every bit as amazing as I remembered them from our OnStage event! Here's a closer look:

**New Products from the new 2017 Occasions Catalogue, available Jan, 4, 2017.

  • For my colour palette, I wanted to go with colours that were in the Watercolour Pencils, so I chose these:

  • I love the freedom the sketched image gives to this picture. I stamped it in Archival Basic Black, as I was using the Blender Pen to blend the Watercolour Pencils** and the outline needs to be waterproof. I used the Archival Basic Black to stamp the sentiment as well.
  • I coloured some Pacific Point Watercolour pencil** first in the darker areas of her dress and blended it with the Blender Pen and let it dry thoroughly. You can speed it up with Heat Tool if you like. I then went over that with Bermuda Bay and again used the Blender Pen to blend it all together. It does a beautiful job. I added Daffodil Delight on the hat and petticoat, and a very light touch of Calypso Coral to the skin on arms and legs. A little Basic Gray formed the ground as well as a shadow around the girl.
  • The Brights Enamel Shapes add that little extra finishing touch.
  • I've used the same colours to layer the background with different widths using the same colours of Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight. A simple but effective card for someone who is going through a rough spot at the moment!
Have a good weekend! Enjoy your Christmas shopping or is that an oxymoron??

Stampin' Up! Movie Time

It's been awhile since I shared some Stampin' Up! movies with you and since demonstrators are now able to order some of the new Occasions Catalogue Products, you're going to be seeing many samples all over the place. My preorder arrived yesterday and just as soon as my big Christmas party for my Stamp Club and regular customers is over, I will be sharing my reveal with you. You can look forward to that on Friday. In the meantime, I wanted to show you some of my favourite new products demonstrated by Stampin' Up!'s Home Office Team.

Before I do that though, I just put together my November Paper Pumpkin kit. I just followed directions, and it was a lifesaver, as I needed some more cards for my Stamp Club and customers. These cards are SO CUTE! Take a look at this one:

I've seen people be much more imaginative than I was by just following the directions, as well as ways to make the card larger, so go to Paper Pumpkin's Pinterest Page to see some of their ideas.

The first thing that went on my Preorder was the new Watercolour Pencils! I used them at OnStage and I'm so excited about them! Take a gander at them here:

And I love the versatility of the Window Box Thinlits and the Window Shopping Stamp Set:

I've had these two for awhile now and I love the elegant look they give:

Well, I don't want to completely blow your mind away with these awesome products, so I'll give it a break for now! I hope I've got your imagination fired up, and you are eagerly awaiting your copy of the new Occasions catalogue! I have them now, so will be adding them to your orders as I deliver them or as I see you! Spring is in the air! (Even though the cold winter air has FINALLY hit!)

Lift Me Up & Away Sneak Peek for Freshly Made Sketches

Well, it was back to playing with some more of my new toys this weekend, and one of the thinlit sets that I fell in love with when I first saw the Occasions 2017 Catalogue was the Up & Away Thinlits Dies**. Who doesn't love the look of Hot Air Balloons? And these are so versatile and varied! You can use the Precision Base Plate, like I have done here to get a super detailed die cut, or you can use the Lift Me Up stamp set ** to stamp a hot air balloon and use one of the two sizes of framelits to just cut around the outline. Or you could build a hot air balloon, cutting the different sections out of different coloured cardstock! Plus you have accessories like clouds and a heart and love notes with the framelits to go with them, and I absolutely love the script of the sentiments! And you can get the stamp set and the thinlits as a bundle and save 10% so you can't go wrong!

**New Products from the new 2017 Occasions Catalogue & SAB Brochure, available Jan, 4, 2017.

I decided to use them on this week's Freshly Made Sketches' Challenge!

It's a fairly simple one with lots of room for interpretation. Look a little more closely at my design:

  • My colour scheme is one that brings me a lot of joy. All the colours except for Whisper White are In Colours and I love how soft they are:

  • The Designer Series Paper you see is from two sources. The Tip Top Taupe Stripe is from the 2015 - 17 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack and the Peekaboo Peach paper is from a Sale-A-Bration set that you will be able to earn free with a $60 purchase during Sale-A-Bration starting Jan. 4, 2017. It's called Carried Away DSP.**
  • The hot air balloon is die cut using the Up & Away Thinlit Dies** and then I added strips of Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon to the back using some glue. I love the effect the stripes give with the net-like design of the framework as they peek through.
  • Don't you love the script of the sentiment? It just fills me with a sense of satisfaction looking at it. Does that sound weird? I also like the wording of all the sentiments in the stamp set. This one is perfect for a birthday.
  • For another touch of Mint Macaron, I added another strip of ribbon, this time from the Holiday Catalogue. This is Mint Macaron from the 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack, from the Paisley Suite. I like how the ribbing echos the stripes in the ribbon used on the balloon.
