We Might As Well Dance!

Well, I was going to film my Preorder Reveal for you yesterday, but things did not go as planned! I find that life rarely does, and after awhile you learn to roll with the punches! That's why this card is so appropriate! A couple of my family members are going through some rough spots right now, and while relief is in sight, they are a little worn out by the stress and the uncertainty. Ironically, they were both dancers at one time in their lives, so I'm dedicating this card to both of them.

Life may not be the party we had hoped for, but while we're here, we might as well DANCE!

Good advice, I think. Dancing is a great way to release stress and express emotions! I took piano lessons for years as a child, but secretly, I wanted to take ballet lessons. I don't know if that would have been a great idea, as I was such a clutz, but who knows? It may have helped!

This card features two of my favourite things from the new Occasions Catalogue: the stamp set, Beautiful You**, gorgeous with it's sketched images and awesome sentiments, and the new Watercolour Pencils**, which are every bit as amazing as I remembered them from our OnStage event! Here's a closer look:

  • For my colour palette, I wanted to go with colours that were in the Watercolour Pencils, so I chose these:

  • I love the freedom the sketched image gives to this picture. I stamped it in Archival Basic Black, as I was using the Blender Pen to blend the Watercolour Pencils** and the outline needs to be waterproof. I used the Archival Basic Black to stamp the sentiment as well.
  • I coloured some Pacific Point Watercolour pencil** first in the darker areas of her dress and blended it with the Blender Pen and let it dry thoroughly. You can speed it up with Heat Tool if you like. I then went over that with Bermuda Bay and again used the Blender Pen to blend it all together. It does a beautiful job. I added Daffodil Delight on the hat and petticoat, and a very light touch of Calypso Coral to the skin on arms and legs. A little Basic Gray formed the ground as well as a shadow around the girl.
  • The Brights Enamel Shapes add that little extra finishing touch.
  • I've used the same colours to layer the background with different widths using the same colours of Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight. A simple but effective card for someone who is going through a rough spot at the moment!
Have a good weekend! Enjoy your Christmas shopping or is that an oxymoron??
