At Home With You The Clock is Ticking

I'm excited to preview another new stamp set and framelit bundle from the new 2017-18 Annual Catalogue! I've been itching to use this set ever since I saw it demonstrated at the OnStage Event in Calgary in April! You're going to love it, I know, especially since it is so versatile. It's called the At Home With You Bundle* and consists of the At Home With You stamp set* and At Home Framelits Dies*. Besides being the coolest front door ever, that opens to reveal any message or image you want inside, it has accessories that will dress it up for any season. It's going to be amazing for Christmas cards especially when you pair it with the new Boxwood Wreaths Embellishments*! It has spring and summer wrapped up with the flower pot and flower wreath, and autumn is amazing with sunflowers and pumpkins.

You can use it for a House Warming gift, or a Hospitality Thank You, or a warm I Miss You card. Trust me on this one - it's going to be a staple in your craft stash!

*New products from the 2017-18 Annual Catalogue, available on June 1.

Here I used it as a thank you card with a personal touch:

  • With the wood grain door, stamped and die cut from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack*, I thought a crisp, clean palette of white, yellow and navy would make a good contrast.
  • The door was stamped with the Basic Black Archival Ink (and the stamp immediately cleaned to avoid staining) and die cut with three of the framelits from the At Home Framelits* set. One cut the outline of the whole door. One die cut the window panes and one cut the door on three sides and scored on the third so it would open.
  • The three accessories I used were the flower wreath, the welcome mat and the flower basket. The mat was stamped in Night of Navy, while the other two were stamped in Basic Black Archival in and coloured with Stampin' Write Markers in Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz. Each accessory has its own coordinating die to make it so easy to cut them out and add to your card.
  • As you can see, I stamped another secret greeting inside the door, making sure none of it would show through the die cut windows at the top.

*New products from the 2017-18 Annual Catalogue, available on June 1.

If you have your catalogue already, this set is on page 54. Mark it and think about how useful it would be! Add it to your wish list, which is no doubt growing very large about now!

The Clock is Ticking!!

Next Wednesday is the last day to order products from the 2016-17 Annual Catalogue and the 2017 Occasions Catalogue. Retiring stamps sets now are available only while supplies last! Make sure you don't miss out!

This weekend, I will be hosting the One Day Craft Crop to Aid Refugees, and I will likely be placing two orders next week: one on Monday, May 29th for the Retiring Products, and one on June 1st for new Annual Catalogue Orders. Message me with your orders and I will see that yours get submitted with the rest.

Here are some samples of retiring stamp sets that you might want to get before they are no more:

Traveler for The Paper Players

Today I'm continuing with my idea of using one sketch to highlight both retiring product and new products in two different cards. My sketch today comes from The Paper Players' latest challenge: a clean and simple project featuring a method of transportation. I chose an ocean liner.

It's interesting, because just this past Sunday, I was watching a documentary about the first steam powered ocean liners between North America and the UK. They were proposed and designed and built by a man called Sir Samuel Cunard. He was so successful that his line of steamships actually exceeded expectations and not only greatly reduced the time and danger of transporting the mail and freight across the Atlantic, but passengers as well. This opened North America up to greatly increased immigration. I was thinking of this as I chose the retiring stamp set I wanted to use for this challenge: Traveler. Here's my design:

  • I chose the ship from the Traveler set and stamped it in Soft Suede, but before I stamped, I removed the Soft Suede ink from the top of the three smokestacks and the flag at the front with a Qtip. I then coloured them in with a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker for a little pop of colour in the general sepia tones of the card. I wanted a little more for the water than the stamp provides so I used one of the splatter images from another retiring set (sob!) Gorgeous Grunge with Crumb Cake ink to create some splashy looking waves, then used the same image with VersaMark ink and White Stampin' Emboss Powder, heat set to make some white caps.
  • Another spatter image from Gorgeous Grunge was used to add a little grunge to the front panel with Crumb Cake ink.
  • The sentiment is from a third retiring set called Suite Sentiments, stamped here in Early Espresso.
  • The ship is die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and backed with a Scallop Square from the Layering Squares Framelits.

I then took the same layout and used it to make a similar card with mostly new products from the 2017 - 18 Annual Catalogue. The bundle I chose to use for this is quite possibly the most versatile bundle Stampin' Up! has put out for quite a while! It's called the Colourful Seasons Bundle* and it represents all four seasons with blossoms, leaves, snowflakes and chairs & cold drinks! I've picked summer here and die cut an Adirondack chair with a cold drink of limeade on it, using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies*. Instead of an ocean cruise, we have a Stacation!

  • The Colourful Seasons stamp set* includes the sentiment you see and the cold drink, both stamped in the new In Colour, Lemon-Lime Twist*. The chair was die cut as I mentioned before, using the coordinating Thinlits, Seasonal Layers*. The Stitched Shapes Framelits and the Layering Squares Framelits created the panel for the chair just as they did for the ship in the previous card.
  • The background texture came from a continuing stamp set called Timeless Textures and a little Bermuda Bay ink added over only part of the image using a Stampin' Write Marker.
There you have my two examples! I hope you're finding this useful. Let me know with a comment!
