 I wanted to quickly share with you my latest round of customer thank-yous - the Christmas Edition! These are great because they are using up the scraps of the Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack that I had left over from many projects this fall and I had to get out my beloved Stitched Shapes Framelits, which are sold out right now, alas, and won't be back in stock until Jan. 19th. I told you they were going to be popular!

• I think this is my favourite design in the Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack. I've always loved plaid, but it's really big this season and this green and black is so...rustic! 
• Pretty Pines Thinlits die cut a pine cone and a fir branch in Whisper White, and then I added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. (Trust me, it's way more sparkly than this!) The glam on the rustic is a nice counterpoint!
• One Big Meaning comes through again for me with the Thank You cards. I knew I would get a lot of use out of that stamp set and I have! It fits perfectly in the Stitched Shape Oval Framelit.
• A Classy Designer Button (the only ones we have in stock) gave it a finished look.

• Same thing, different colours and a retired gold metallic button instead.

Hang Your Stocking with Warmth and Cheer

 I'm continuing my quest to use all my new Holiday Catalogue bundles and other products and I was designing some fairly simple cards to use for my Christmas Stamper's Dozen this week. This is one of my favourite designs and it uses the Hang your Stocking bundle. This includes the Hang Your Stocking stamp set and the Christmas Stocking Thinlits Dies. Keeping it simple meant adding everything on the card front layer so I used strips of the Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack as a background and then added a die cut stocking and sentiment as well as a couple of fir branches from the Pretty Pines Thinlit Dies.

• I love the Noel edgelit from the Christmas Stocking Thinlits. It looks like it is just sitting on the mantel piece with the stocking hanging from it.
• I could have stamped a stocking first and die cut it, but I was curious to know what the thinlits could do. I experimented with different plain backgrounds behind the Cherry Cobbler die cut stocking and settled on Whisper White over Garden Green, Black, Delightful Dijon and Crumb Cake, The Whisper White showed up the best without being too jarring.
• Don't you just love those Mini Jingle Bells? Along with the little fir branches from the Pretty Pines Thinlits, they add the right touch to embellish the stocking.
• Using the strips of Designer Series Paper allows you to have a bit more variety without using up too much paper. I've woven the ends for interest. This design gives the impression of knitted texture all through it.

Paisleys and Posies for the Pals

Well, I got out my new Paisleys and Posies stamp set* yesterday with the intention of making a nice warm and inviting fall card, but I ended up going in a totally different direction! As I sat there staring at all the beautiful paisley shapes, I felt like I just didn't quite know how to put them all together to make a design that I wanted. I didn't really know what design I was looking for. I thought about all the paisley prints I had seen in my life and you know what came to mind most often? Neckerchiefs! That's right! The western style bandannas worn by all the good cowpokes out on the range. And hippies... all the hippies wore them, too! I wore them during the sixties!

So what emerged was a western design, with the paisleys featured on a bandanna! It roughly (ahem) fits the sketch from Pals Paper Arts Challenge this past week:

Some of the products I used for this card are current products and some are sneak peeks of products you will find in the up-coming Holiday Catalogue.

• I used Real Red cardstock to make the bandanna, using my Stampin' Trimmer to cut in in roughly the shape I wanted, then rounding corners with the Project Life Corner Rounding Punch and making the neck curve using one of the Layering Oval dies. I arranged some of the Paisley and Posies* stamps on a large clear mount base and stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on the red cardstock. Then I filled in any gaps with a couple of the smaller designs.
• With a Blender Pen and some White Craft Ink I added some white highlights to the paisleys on the bandanna. It really reminds me of the ones I used to wear.
• I was dying to try out the new Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder* and originally thought that I would just have the bandanna sit over that used on some Very Vanilla cardstock. But when I added the boots and the sentiment on the Very Vanilla as well, there wasn't enough contrast. I decided to just use a strip of the Cable Knit* embossed paper on top of some of the Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack* paper, which looks very western as well and that added the colour difference I needed.
• The boots are from the Country Living stamp set in the Annual Catalogue and I used a Blender Pen with some Soft Suede and Crumb Cake ink to shade them in. The sentiment is from the Paisley and Posies stamp set* and is stamped in the Memento ink. The bottom part of this is trimmed with the Stampin Trimmer, but the boots at the top are hand snipped. Some White Thick Baker's Twine was coiled and added behind the boots for an addition touch of western charm.
