Back from OnStage Part 2

One of the most fun things about OnStage events are the swaps, where demonstrators trade cards with each other. At OnStage 2019 in Las Vegas, our Kaleidoscope team (upline, downline and sidelines) did a swap and there were nine of us. The criteria were at least 2 layers, and an embellishment, as well as our best work. Some of us tried to steer clear of the Holiday Catalogue as it is ending so soon, but not all. I want to share with you today the swaps I received as well as tell you how I made my own.

First, here is the swap design that I made:

  • I used the stamp set, Rare Blessings, from the Annual Catalogue and coloured it with the Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends Combo and the Highland Heather Stampin' Blends Combo. The background design is a stamp from the same set which I used with Mint Macaron and Highland Heather Ink, stamped off once. It makes a really interesting background.
  • I tore a piece of vellum just so it creates a 1/4" border around the edges.
  • The Highland Heather cardstock has been embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and glued on the Smoky Slate card base.
  • The sentiment from the same stamp set is stamped in Gorgeous Grape and die cut using the dies from the Frosted Bouquet Die set.

Before showing you more swaps, today is the start of the Online Extravaganza Sale that continues until Friday at 10:50 pm. Remember that the first 6 people that place *qualifying orders either online or by contacting me, will win a pack of 5 Stampin' Blends storage trays.

*Qualifying = minimum $30.

Now, as promised, here are the swaps I received from the rest of my team mates! Please leave some love for them here for their beautiful creations:

Created by Sandra Donald, this card using the Waterfront stamp set and the Hammered Metal embossing folder, really warms up my world! I love the texture!

A wintery wonderland created by Terry Hamilton using the Snow Front stamp set, uses a sponging technique for the night sky and Snowfall Accents Puff Paint for the stars or snowflakes.

Susanne Netz also broke out the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint for her adorable snowman, using the Snowman Season stamp set. I love the background paper she created herself! In case you can't see it on the photo, the snowman is glistening with Wink of Stella!

My fellow As You See It Design Team member, Amy Jasper, created this beautiful thank you card with the center panel cut away to reveal the sentiment. She used the gorgeous Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper.

One of my favourite cards was created by my downline, Susan Martin. I love how Susan stamped and embossed on the DSP in 'inchies' to create this antique looking mosaic! So cool!

Another of my downline, Doreen Austgarden, created this beautiful pastel pink and black card using the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and the Magnolia Lane DSP. The beauty of this set never gets old!

The last of my downline to go with us to Las Vegas, Marion Hall, created this amazing design and I enlarged the photo so that you could see the design on the bottom of the inside of the card - the piece die cut from the front of the card, glued back on the bottom of the inside.

And, last, but certainly not least, Deb Viens created this CAS card using gold and silver foil and Whisper White die cuts. It has a stark but very elegant appeal to it. I love the rhinestone 'lights' on the tree.

Swap Cards for OnStage Local

Well, as you read this, Calgary OnStage Local is all over and we've all seen the new catalogue and ordered our new products and enjoyed meeting and greeting, but we still can't tell you anything until the catty has been posted online for other demos to see, so I'm going to have to be content with showing you my team swap card. There were about a dozen of us from my upline's team (3 of us from my team) there and we planned a team swap. We all picked stamp sets that were current and my set was Awesomely Artistic. I chose it because it would allow me to practise with the background technique that I will be using at my Technique Night Classes this week. (See here.)

Here's more detail:

  • Awesomely Artistic is a wonderful set to use if you are going to be doing any collage stamping with a variety of images combined within one area. It also has some textures images as well as regular images as part of the set, so it works with the Baby Wipe Smooshing technique.
  • I used a palette of Pear Pizzazz, Bermuda Bay and Sahara Sand, with touches of Island Indigo and Old Olive for darker accents. And for some sparkle I embossed the dragonfly and the frame for the sentiment in Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder and added Clear Wink of Stella.
  • I tried a lot of different combinations for the card base, the background panel and the matte for the collage panel, but in the end, this won out. The Island Indigo and Silver Foil were just too much for the other colours while the neutral provides a nice neutral backdrop and lets the colours shine.
  • The embossed background panel was embossed using the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder, which is very three dimensional and leaves a deep impression especially when you spritz your cardstock with water before running it through the Big Shot. Due to the thickness of the embossing folder there is only need for a top cutting plate, not a bottom one.
  • I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to get perfect placement for the word Friend in the frame of the sentiment. I know I should think about getting a stamp placement tool like a MISTI, but I keep waiting for Stampin' Up! to bring out something like it. They are always well aware of what is happening in the industry, and when they do bring out a new tool, it may be late, but it is always really good.
Well, I'm excited to reveal a few new things to you in the next couple of days, but have patience! Time marches inexorably on! I'll show you my Roomie Gifts on Wednesday!
