Brightly Lit Christmas Bundle for As You See It Challenge #163

Wow! What a week! I don't think I want to bother you with all the gory details, but it involved, pneumonia, antibiotics, getting extremely nauseous and sick from antibiotics, a root canal and temporary crown, renovations that required that water to be shut off, prep for a big class and a coming craft fair. I'm still reeling and not quite myself yet, but things are looking up. (They really had to - there wasn't much lower ground to cover!) Finally it's Friday and that means another As You See It Challenge! It's a sketch challenge again this week and it's an interesting one - kind of a throwback to the glory days of banners!

You could either get nostalgic and go literal with the sketch, or use your imagination and come up with something outside the box. I think I kind of did both.

First, I've been dying to use a new stamp set and framelit bundle called Brightly Lit Christmas, and when I took another look at it yesterday, I realized it was meant to be for this sketch. Here's why:

  • The Brightly Lit stamp set and framelits involve lamp posts and banners that hang from them like down the main street of a little town, decorated for Christmas! I realized that the banners were tailor-made for this challenge and they even had filigree bars to hold them that would work as the the ribbon in the sketch!
  • I also used the Merry Patterns stamp set that I earned from Stampin' Up! last month with a qualifying order. It's been a great set to have with its two step stamping That will work well with the new Stamparatus. Were you able to get your reservation in? I was a tad surprised at how fast they went, but not that surprised! Be ready to get right in there on the next reservation window on December 5.
  • I used a colour palette of Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, Whisper White and Lemon Lime Twist. I like how crisp it looks and bright and festive!
  • I attached the decorative bar holders to the banners first, then attached the banners to the card front with Dimensionals.
  • While the outside banner sentiments are from the Brightly Lit Christmas stamp set, the middle one was created from the Merry Patterns stamp set, stamped inside an outline from the Brightly Lit Christmas set and die cut with a framelit from the Christmas Lamppost Thinlits.

Well, that was fast! The first reservation window for the Stamparatus was filled within an hour of it opening, leaving a lot of people without their reservation. From that, we've learned...a reservation window from Dec. 5 - 30 is probably realistically only Dec.5 for maybe 1 or 2 hours, so best be right on top of it to get your reservation in. A lot of people want these, even if they already have a stamp positioner tool!! Demand is high and the manufacturer can only produce so many in one lot, so we will have to be patient. In the end, the Stamparatus will be offered in the annual catalogue and everyone will be able to order it!

The Online Extravaganza is coming for a week starting Nov. 20th!! That day will be a flash sale for 24 hrs, featuring 20% off selected stamp sets. Here is a list of the upcoming deals:
