Mixing Embossing Powders

Last week, I posted a card for which I had mixed metallic embossing powders together - gold and silver to get a kind of pewter look.

It got me wondering about whether or not I could mix other powders together for different effects. I had to design a card for my monthly newsletter tutorial, and I wondered if I could get a mix of a coloured embossing powder and a sparkly embossing powder, and if it would work. The only coloured embossing powder Stampin' Up! currently carries is Cherry Cobbler, so I decided to mix that with some Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and see how it turned out!

  • The experiment was generally a success, although there were spaces where the predominant powder was Iridescent Ice which left a bit of a gap in the colour, but it looked like there was snow on the branches, so that was okay. Overall, it left me with some sparkly red trees, which is a bit unorthodox, but fun!
  • The same mix of powders was used on the Snowflake Element on the upper right. Yes, you can emboss embellishments and almost everything, I've found. Just keep it to inanimate objects though!
  • A step-by-step photo tutorial for this card will be given in my monthly newsletter at the end of the week. If you are a subscriber on my email list, you will receive it automatically. If you are not a subscriber, you can sign up here:

This month you will receive two free photo tutorials, so it's a good time to sign up! You can unsubscribe at any time easily and it is all free. I generally send out only 1 email a month, unless there is a big sale that I think you would be interested in knowing about.

I will not be listing the project recipe because you will get a list of supplies used and specific measurements in the tutorial. Enjoy!
