Mr. Popper's Penquins Greetings

As a teacher, one of my student's favourite novels was Mr. Popper's Penguins, the story of a poor house painter who is gifted a penguin. Trying to create an environment suitable for Captain Cook, the penguin, is costly enough, but then the Poppers acquire a female companion for the lonely Captain Cook and the trouble really starts! Hollywood made it into a movie starring Jim Carrey, and took the usual Hollywood liberties with the story, but when I saw the Snow Place stamp set with the adorable little penguin, it was the first thing that came to mind.

  • How cute is this little guy all dressed up in his top hat and bow tie with the candy cane cane? (yes, I meant to write that - take a moment!) He looks all ready to do a soft shoe tap dance! And I love that he and all his accessories have coordinating dies so no fussy cutting needed. The coordinating dies are the Snow Friends Framelit Dies and you can get the Snow Place stamp set and the framelits in a bundle and save 15%!
  • I went with a largely monochromatic colour palette except for the Basic Black neutral and the pops of Real Red and Tangerine Tango for the cane and his beak and feet! I like the way the images are crisply focused with this combination.
  • The sentiment and the snowflakes are also part of this great set. You could totally do all your Christmas greeting cards with this bundle.
  • I used our new Basic Black Archival Ink on the penguin. Look at the rich even colour! I love it. It comes with the old style felt pad and is great for outlines for any watercolouring you might want to do.
Try out this design and have some fun with the Snow Place Bundle!
