Alpine Sports Let It Snow!

Back home now from OnStage Orlando 2018, I'm struggling to catch up with sleep, work and health as I battle a bout of laryngitis, hoping to recover in time for my first classes today and tomorrow. While my classes are highlighting the Snowflake Showcase products, which are only available until the end of November, I decided to let my card today feature the Alpine Sports Thinlits which I love, but which just haven't gotten the use they deserve until now.

Here's my take on this set of dies, with a little help from the coordinating Alpine Adventure stamp set and the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper:

  • I wanted a card with warmth despite the cold needed for the sports it portrays. The Soft Suede cardstock and the Cherry Cobbler plaid paper provide the warmth and even though the Gray Granite is a gray, it's a form of Taupe which has warm tones to it as well.
  • I like the look of the rustic wood panels against the red plaid for constrast without loosing the warmth of the overall look of the card. It also provides a plainer background against which the die cuts would not be lost like they would against the busier look of the plaid.
  • The sentiment is from the Alpine Adventures stamp set and is die cut with a framelit from the die set. Loops of linen thread behind it before mounting it with Mini Dimensionals add some interest and contrast.
  • The holly leaves come in two pairs meant to be layered over each other, but I liked the look of them the way I have them. Rhinestone jewels coloured with the dark shade of Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends are a reasonable facsimile of holly berries.

Don't forget that these products from the Snowflake Showcase are only available until Nov. 30 or until supplies last, so don't wait too long to get them!! They are a truly beautiful set, and a must have even if you aleady have great snow stamps and dies.
