And while we're on a beachy theme, I just got a new stamp set on Friday and I could hardly wait to ink it up so I used it for today's card. It's called Seaside Notions and it's a delightfully sketchy set that looks great with watercolour, or monochromatic or almost any kind of card style.
- For this card, I used watercolour paper for the main image panel. The type I'm using is Strathmore 140 lb Cold Press watercolour paper. The reason I don't use SU watercolour paper is simply because, as a demonstrator, it's just not cost effective for me. I don't get enough in a pack for a class. As a single user, it's fine.
- I taped my 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece to a Stamparatus flap which is easy to clean and has a grid on it. (I use Post It Note tape.) I watercoloured the background using Sahara Sand, Coastal Cabana, and Flirty Flamingo, drying between colours.
- I stamped the images after the background was dry. It's good to use the Stamparatus for this because it's sometimes hard to get a strong image the first time around, using Memento ink on watercolour paper. The Stamparatus will allow you to restamp to get the image you want.
- I coloured in my seahorse, coral, shell and sand dollar using Stampin' Blends Markers. The watercolour paper may cause these to run a bit more than Whisper White cardstock, but that's not an issue with these casual images. I cut the panel down to the size I wanted.
- The sentiments are from Seaside Notions as well. The sequins add the finishing touch.
