Welcome to our October NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with creative paper crafting ideas to share with you. Today we are featuring the masculine designs for cards using current products from the 2021/22 Stampin' Up! Catalogues. I decided to use the Campology stamp set as I was making a birthday card for my son-in-law, who loves the outdoors!

I love the texture in this card and the focal point of the lantern light in the snowy forest. My son-in-law and daughter live in what we consider the north of BC (even though it's really the center) and they get long, cold, snowy winters, but David loves to get outdoors even when it's cold! I used the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder for the background texture sponging on some White Craft Ink for the snow and I love the effect I got from that.

  • The card base and the first layer, which is embossed, are Evening Evergreen cardstock. After embossing the layer with the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder, I sponged on some White Craft ink to show up the texture. I also added some splatters of White Craft Ink refill mixed with water spattered with a toothbrush to the sky area.
  • A strip of Soft Suede cardstock, embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder was added horizontally. It was sponged with Soft Suede ink to enhance the wood grain texture.
  • I stamped the lantern image from Campology on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Memento black ink and used blending brushes to add Mango Melody ink to the center and Soft Succulent ink blending to Evening Evergreen to the outside edges.
  • I die cut this piece with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies then cut away the bottom, trimming around the base of the lantern. I trimmed a small 1/16" slit up beside the lantern on each side so I could slide a little bit of the background behind the woodgrain strip so it looks more finished.
  • The sentiment is from Many Messages, heat embossed in Gold on Very Vanilla and die cut with the Messages die. I added a leaf image from the Gorgeous Leaves bundle and some evergreen sprigs die cut from Evening Evergreen with the Christmas Pinecone die.
  • A couple of loops of linen thread, tied in a knot finishes the masculine look.

Here's the finished card again:
