Notes of Nature for As You See It Challenge #314

notes of nature for aysi #314 1

Welcome back to regular As You See It Challenges after our winter break! During our break we came up with a year's worth of new challenges for you to play with during 2024 and we're so excited to have you get started on them!

Our first, Challenge #314, is a sketch challenge, designed by yours truly, and entitled Heart Arc for obvious reasons. Although the challenge banner shows hearts, any shape will do, so the sky's the limit!

challenge #314

The 2024 Jan/Apr Mini Catalogue went live yesterday and I'm so excited to show you some of the beautiful new products that you can find in it. I decided to use the Nature's Sweetness suite from pages 40 - 43, and specifically the Notes of Nature Bundle for the images I wanted to use for my little arc. Take a closer look:

  • My palette is Pebbled Path, Pecan Pie, Gold and Basic White which is the same palette as the Nature's Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper that I used as some of the background pieces. The paper is so rich and gorgeous! You're really gonna need some. Make that a lot!!
  • On my Pebbled Path card base I used the splatter stamp to add some splatter with Pebbled Path ink, just around the edges.
  • The next layer is a beautiful piece of the DSP, in Pebbled Path with gold script, cut to 3 3/4" x 5". It's mounted at a bit of an angle.
  • On the back of that same design of the DSP is a ledger page in Pecan Pie. I added some of the stamped images from the Notes of Nature stamp set to it and used the binder punch die half way along the left edge of the paper to make it look like paper ripped from a notebook. I mounted that also at a bit of an angle in the opposite direction to the other background layer.
  • Two of the leaf stalk dies were die cut, one in Pebbled Path and one in Pecan Pie cardstock. They were glued to the card front, after trimming the bottom few leaves away so they fit, with the Pecan Pie stalk overlapping the Pebbled Path stalk.
  • I heat embossed 4 of the little flowers in white, and 4 of the small bushes in gold and die cut them. At first, I couldn't figure out how to line up the die for the bush and thought there was some kind of mistake, then I realized that I had it upside down, and when I turned it around, it fit perfectly.
  • I die cut 4 small leaf stalks from Pecan Pie cardstock as well, then made 4 little swags containing 1 of each of the three elements. I added those in an arc shape to the card front, every other one with a dimensional for some variation in height.
  • I heat embossed the sentiment from the Notes of Nature stamp set in white and added some splatter in gold on Pecan Pie card stock and die cut it with a retired Stitched Rectangle die. I trimmed down a piece of the script DSP to make a matte for the sentiment.
  • I added some brushed metallic dots in gold and a knotted piece of the Gold 1/8" Faux Leather Trim.

    1. Thank you, Heather, but I'm stumped. What is CACOA? I've never seen that before. And Google was no help at all!

  4. You are, of course, using my favourite of the new bundles so it's no surprise that I love this card. I really like the sweet twist of cord you've added to the mix too. I hope that your wait to see what was under the tab on my card did not disappoint! I think there's a lot to test out in that bundle which was, as you say, easily overlooked.
