I don't think I have ever been this late getting my card done for the As You See It Challenge! We were camping all last week, and it was perfect weather for camping, by the way, and when I got back last Saturday, everything hit the fan at once! There was a lot of stuff to do for our Strata Council (too much!!), stuff to do for a Crop we're doing in November, and stuff for the Challenge and it all happened at once. Through in a bunch of appointments and events where food was needed and it was a perfect storm. But I got it done, and that's what matters!
It's a colour challenge, my favourite kind, so take a look at the challenge banner:
The challenge is called Gentle Sunset and you can see why. It's a beautiful combination, designed by team mate Joanne, using 3 of the 5 new In Colours. When I looked at my stash to decide what to use, the Light & Wonder bundle caught my eye again, however, this time it was the dies I was thinking about. This is what happened with that:
- I started with a card base of Secret Sea and mounted a 5 1/4" x 4" panel of Cloud Cover on that.
- I die cut the large evergreens from a piece of Secret Sea, and the small evergreens from a piece of Timid Tiger and glued them to the piece of Cloud Cover.
- I blended some Secret Sea ink between the two evergreen panels using a blending brush.
- I die cut the three cloud shapes in both Cloud Cover and Pumpkin Pie cardstock, thinking to layer them with the Pumpkin Pie showing at the bottom of the Cloud Cover like the sunset was lighting up the underside of the clouds, but it didn't really give that effect well, so I just mounted some Pumpkin Pie clouds and one Cloud Cover cloud, and that looked better to me.
- The sentiment from the Paper Tags stamp set, was stamped in Secret Sea ink, and die cut with the Stylish Shapes dies. It is mounted using Stampin' Dimensionals, with a twist of retired Night of Navy and Gold Glittered Ribbon underneath.
