For some reason, I detest cliche answers! Even though those answers might be quite true for me, I still am very averse to using those answers when asked, just because it's something that's such an easy answer. I faced that scenario when starting my Design Team sample for the As You See It Fill In The Blank Challenge #358 this week. The blank we have to fill in is: My favourite thing about Autumn/Fall is ______. Check out the Challenge Banner:
I could have answered: the colourful fall leaves; or warm sweaters; or pumpkin pies; and that would all be true, but it would also all be cliche, and I do not like cliche answers. I checked out my fall stamp sets, and my eyes fell on Perfectly Pears. I had it! Pears, the ripe ones, are my favourite fruits, particularly the Bartlett variety. And they ripen in early fall. My favourite thing about Autumn is Bartlett Pears ripening!
Here's the card I made celebrating that fact:
- I started with a card base of Old Olive cardstock, measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored on the long side at 4 1/4". A 3 3/4" x 5" layer of Painterly Pears DSP is added to that after adding a strip of Mossy Meadow & Gold 1/4" Ribbon along the bottom quarter using Tear & Tape adhesive.
- On Very Vanilla cardstock, the two step stamping images of pears (1 in Old Olive and 2 in Mossy Meadow) were added. Then two of the basket woven rounds from the Textured Notes stamp set were added after being die cut with the Deckled Circles dies. They were stamped in Crumb Cake and Gray Granite ink.
- The leaves were stamped in Pecan Pie ink and Crushed Curry ink, then die cut with the Perfectly Pears dies.
- I used the crosshatch die from the Perfectly Pears dies to die cut a couple of the crosshatches from the Woven Textures DSP.
- The sentiment is from the Amber Autumn, and is die cut with the Stitched Rectangles dies. It's stamped in Pecan Pie.
Everything was arranged and adhered to the card front with glue dots and Stampin' Dimensionals. Final touch is the Low Profile Sparkle Dots on the sentiment label.
