Bohemian Double Pocket Fold Card

I've got to say that I love my Technique Night classes! Why? Because it makes me keep on top of new ideas and techniques. This month's theme is Fancy Folds. There are so many out there, it's crazy! And it is equally crazy the variety of things you can do with a piece of paper! My card for today is a Fancy Fold called a Double Pocket Fold card. It features two little pockets on the outside, where you can slip a book mark or a tag or a gift card, plus you can open the card as usual for a greeting on the inside!  It is very simply made with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of Designer Series Paper and some scoring and one easy cut! Take a closer look:

I'm using Bohemian DSP (Designer Series Paper) for this project, which I cut down to 8 1/2" x 11".

• With its bold designs on one side and more muted designs on the other, Bohemian DSP makes a great choice for this technique. Here is a tutorial on how to do this fold. I added a few different things to my design, but the concept is the same.
• Be gentle with your scoring and folding of DSP, because it can easily crack if you don't. I use the large end of the scoring stylus when I use my Simply Scored Tool for that very reason. I also added two 1/2" strips of Blackberry Bliss cardstock on the edges of my pockets to hide any cracks that occurred.
• The new Tear and Tape Adhesive was perfect for adhering all the edges. It's so easy and convenient to use!

• My tags were stamped using the Amazing Birthday Stamp set from the 2015/16 Annual Catalogue. I inked most of the stamps up using Stampin' Write markers in the following colours: Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry and  Delightful Dijon, which happen to be some of the the colours of the Bohemian Designer Series Paper.
• My tags were made using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and I added a backing of either Bermuda Bay or Blackberry Bliss cardstock which was 2 1/8" wide. It's a little too wide to fit in the channel of the punch but you can still wrangle it into the punch and turn the punch over so you can see to center it correctly.
• The 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch created the Delightful Dijon scallop circle on the front and I use the 2" Circle Punch for the Rich Razzleberry center. The sentiment is from the stamp set, Tag Talk, inked in Blackberry Bliss ink and punched out with the coordinating Label Bracket Punch.

• Inside I added a panel for handwritten greetings using the Lots of Labels Framelit Dies. I used Very Vanilla cardstock for all my stamping as it is one of the colours in the DSP palette.

Fun at the Stampin' Up! Canada Fall Conference in Abbotsford

This past weekend I travelled down to Abbotsford to take part in one of the BC Fall Conferences put on by Stampin' Up! Canada!  My buddy Terry and I had a great time.  What I liked so much about it was the chance to get to know fellow demonstrators from around BC.  When we are at big events like Convention each year,  we often only run into fellow Canadian or BC demos by accident, but this was a great opportunity to get to know others in our area of Canada!  Dale Hampshire, Stampin' Up!'s Canadian Manager, or Canadadale as his email address has dubbed him was so much fun with his game shows and Halloween treats that the atmosphere was casual, enjoyable and more like a big card class than anything.  We did some great Make and Takes and had the opportunity to win tons of loot!  Here's my take for the weekend:

I was the lucky winner of the Grand Prize at one session of Friday's Product Playground.  I also was a volunteer at several sessions.  Here are some of the Make and Take projects I helped with:

I wanted to quickly share with you the last card from my Creative Escape retreat last weekend:

I saw a similar idea on Pinterest, and I had to try it out.  A Gingerbread House!  I just used some Soft Suede cardstock and cut out a house shape and used the Scallop Edge Border punch to create the scalloped roof lines from strips of Soft Suede!

• The card base is the versatile Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The next panel is from the Nordic Noel Designer Series Paper.  It totally reminds me of peppermint sticks!
• I used the White Stampin' Chalk Marker to create the dots of white icing on the edges, doors and windows. 
• Real Red Candy Dots made...well, candy dots on the roof lines and as door handles.
• Isn't it great the way the stamp, It's for You! from Amazing Birthday stamp set, looks just like a peppermint striped candy?  I punched it out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch.
• To make the wreath, I punched some Whisper White cardstock with the 1/2" Circle Punch, then used the 3/4" Circle Punch to punch around the 1/2" hole, making sure it was centered in the punch before making the cut.  I then "doodled" on it with Real Red Stampin' Write marker.
• It is mounted on the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.
