Birthday Card for a Little Tyke for Pals Paper Arts

I have a Birthday Stamper's Dozen coming up this week and I wanted to create a card that could be used for children of any age and gender.  I used the Challenge #189 sketch from Pals Paper Arts to create it.

I turned to a package of DSP that I haven't used in a really long time, Birthday Basics!  With it's bright colours and cute graphics, it is just right for the job of making a kid's birthday card.

  • The sentiment is from Bring On the Cake stamp set.  The brilliant thing about this one is that you indicate the right age by colouring the appropriate number(s) and circling the proper ending.  This way you can keep it on hand for any child (or even an adult who may like it!)
  • I added mattes for each panel with complimentary colours of cardstock, except for the main sentiment, which I matted with another piece from this same DSP set.
  • I finished it off with a Naturals Designer Button, threaded with some of the larger, coloured Baker's Twine that you get with the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack, free with a $60 order during Sale-A-Bration.
And speaking of Sale-A-Bration, it starts TODAY! And it continues until March 31st.  Take a look at the sweet products you can earn free with every $60 worth of products (before tax and shipping)!

Click on the Photo to download the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.
That's the first major reward that Sale-A-Bration brings with it, but there's even more:

  • Host a Stampin' Up! Party through me and if your sales are $400 (before tax and shipping) which is not hard to do during Sale-A-Bration, believe me, Stampin' Up! is adding an extra $40 worth of free product to Hostesses until Sale-A-Bration is over on Mar. 31st.  Normally you would get $70 worth of product at that level for free, but during Sale-A-Bration the same party would earn you $110 worth of free amazing Stampin' Up! products!  Call or email if you would like to book a party.
  • Join my Papercraft Cats team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators during Sale-A-Bration and instead of getting $155 worth of product, (free shipping as well) you will get $190 worth of products plus a free business package and 20% discounts on all your supplies.  With your first order over $200, you will also get a one time 30% discount to help you build your supplies.  As a Rising Star in 2013, I know how to get you started in a successful business, but I also welcome hobby demonstrators who just want the discounts with a few customers to help them make their minimums.  Join me on your own terms and I will provide as much or as little support as you want!  The Papercraft Cats are a fun group of people with stamping interests in common and we'd love to have you join us.

Blog Candy Winner

It was another beautiful Okanagan summer day today.  We went for a walk down by the lake at about 8 pm and the wind was blowing but it was balmy and warm, the perfect time for a walk really.  I should have taken some photos but didn't think to do it.  I will next time.

When we got back, it was time to draw for the winner of the Blog Candy I advertised on Monday.

The winner receives a pack of discontinued DSP - Beyond the Garden, a Big Shot die - Beautiful Butterflies, a wonderful discontinued stamp set called Full of Life - never used, a complete roll of Pretty in Pink Stitched Grosgrain ribbon, a partial roll of Two Tone Ribbon and a package of Designer Silver Basics Buttons.

Here's my hubby doing the draw:

And the winner is:

Karen Bridden
I will contact Karen to arrange to deliver her prize to her.  Congratulations, Karen!

Here's another card designed for my workshop on Wednesday morning:
  • I used the stamp set, Giggle Greetings, again because they are so humorous!  And the palette of colours comes from the DSP (Design Series Paper) Birthday Basics - Bermuda Bay, Crisp Cantaloupe, Raspberry Ripple and Very Vanilla.
  • The Crisp Cantaloupe panel is actually Core'dinations Cardstock, with a lighter core colour.  I embossed it with the Stripes embossing folder and sanded it with the Stampin' Sanding Block to reveal more of the inner core.
  • I stamped the cheesy image in Bermuda Bay and die cut a circle around it using the Circles Collection Framelits.  Then I backed it with Coastal Cabana Stretch Ruffle Trim.  Because it stretches and is ruffled, it is so easy to adhere it around the perimeter of the circle, which is why I love it so much!

  • The sentiment is from Banner Greetings stamped in Raspberry Ripple and fussy cut by hand. A little bow made from 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Bermuda Bay adorns the corner of it.
  • The Bermuda Bay backing for the candles paper was edged with the Scallop Trim Border punch.
See you tomorrow with a guest stamper and a peek at all the goodies I got at convention!

Dancing with GrandBabies

Is there anything more precious than a warm little baby head on your shoulder?  I don't think so and I spent some time today just holding my sick little grandson and dancing gently around the house with him, to the tune of the demo track on the electronic piano, which he just loves.

Eighteen month old Parker and his mom (my youngest daughter) and dad are visiting with us on their way back home after spending a week on Vancouver Island.  Little Parker must have picked up a bug somewhere on the journey, because he was running quite a high fever this morning and he wasn't eating and was very cranky all day.

It amazes me continually the amount of love I have for this little guy and all his cousins.  I could literally sit and watch fascinated as he learns and plays.  His communication skills are growing by leaps and bounds and it is getting quite easy to talk to him.  I'm hoping he feels better soon!

I wanted to show you a card I created for a workshop I did in lovely Okanagan Falls today.  We stamped in the middle of a vineyard, on a breezy covered veranda and had a wonderful time!!  The hostess' husband requested that we do a funny card and this is what I came up with:

  • This stamp set is called Giggle Greetings and it's full of cute sayings and images that you can colour in.
  • The DSP (Designer Series Paper) is called Birthday Basics and I used the colour palette of the DSP for the card.
  • I also used the new Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to do some pewter heat embossing to give the card a little more zing!
  • I'm really glad we kept the Natural 7/16" Trim Ribbon from the Spring Mini!  It has just the right look for many of my designs.
I used a Stampin' Write Marker and Blender Pen to blend the marker colouring, but everything dried way too fast out in the hot air on the veranda.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope your summer days are giving you some joy!  Don't forget to enter my Blog Candy giveaway here.  You have until Friday at 10 pm (PDT)
