Dancing with GrandBabies

Is there anything more precious than a warm little baby head on your shoulder?  I don't think so and I spent some time today just holding my sick little grandson and dancing gently around the house with him, to the tune of the demo track on the electronic piano, which he just loves.

Eighteen month old Parker and his mom (my youngest daughter) and dad are visiting with us on their way back home after spending a week on Vancouver Island.  Little Parker must have picked up a bug somewhere on the journey, because he was running quite a high fever this morning and he wasn't eating and was very cranky all day.

It amazes me continually the amount of love I have for this little guy and all his cousins.  I could literally sit and watch fascinated as he learns and plays.  His communication skills are growing by leaps and bounds and it is getting quite easy to talk to him.  I'm hoping he feels better soon!

I wanted to show you a card I created for a workshop I did in lovely Okanagan Falls today.  We stamped in the middle of a vineyard, on a breezy covered veranda and had a wonderful time!!  The hostess' husband requested that we do a funny card and this is what I came up with:

  • This stamp set is called Giggle Greetings and it's full of cute sayings and images that you can colour in.
  • The DSP (Designer Series Paper) is called Birthday Basics and I used the colour palette of the DSP for the card.
  • I also used the new Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to do some pewter heat embossing to give the card a little more zing!
  • I'm really glad we kept the Natural 7/16" Trim Ribbon from the Spring Mini!  It has just the right look for many of my designs.
I used a Stampin' Write Marker and Blender Pen to blend the marker colouring, but everything dried way too fast out in the hot air on the veranda.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope your summer days are giving you some joy!  Don't forget to enter my Blog Candy giveaway here.  You have until Friday at 10 pm (PDT)

I've been very busy in my craft room this week, trying to prepare for several classes in case I get the call that my daughter is in labour and I have to leave to be with her and her hubby in Vancouver.  I have two classes this weekend and two during the week, one of which my downline will cover if I have to go!  Yay, Rebecca!

The card I want to show you today is for my All Occasion Stamper's Dozen, which takes place Saturday afternoon from 1 - 4 pm.  Guests will stamp 12 cards, 3 each of four designs, so the cards have to be fairly easy to do quickly.  Simple doesn't mean unattractive though.  This is meant to be a masculine design which was the first comment my hubby made when I showed him the card, so I guess it was achieved!

  • Ever since I first laid eyes on the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper, all designs in Basic Black and Very Vanilla,  I've been dying to use it, and this was my first card with it. You've got to check out all the designs.
  • The Congratulations stamp from Layered Labels Stamp Set was the perfect one to use for this All Occasion card.  And the fact that it coordinates with the Apothecary Accents Framelits is a BIG bonus!
  • The black label is cut from Basic Black cardstock with another of the Apothecary Accents Framelits and the Brushed Gold cardstock is cut using the third smallest oval from the Ovals Collection Framelits.  All were easy to cut using the new Magnetic Platform for my Big Shot.
If I can get it together I will try to post a new video tutorial this weekend.  That's if I'm not cuddling my new grandbaby by then!
