Irresistibly Yours for the Easter Eggs

Well, I mentioned yesterday that I didn't order many Easter stamps this year, so I was at a bit of a loss when it came time to make Easter cards for my 5 grandkids! After tossing around a few ideas in my mind, it hit! Eureka! I could colour Irresistibly Your Specialty Designer Series Paper and use it to punch out or die cut Easter Eggs! This paper is perfect for the job. It's a little heavier than regular DSP and you can colour it any colour you like and the embossed designs will resist the ink and stay white! It reminds me of dying Easter Eggs, which I did every year with my own kids. Here are some more results:

I love how colorful they are and I love that little punch art Easter Bunny as well. I put the Fringe Scissors to work as well and I haven't used those in a long time.

Would you like to know how to make these cards? Would you like to find out 5 different ways to colour the Irresistibly Yours DSP? All you have to do is subscribe to my monthly newsletter! I'm emailing it a bit early, by March 27th, to give you a chance to make these cards yourself in time for Easter. A Colour Challenge from The Paper Players and a Contest!!

I didn't know what to make of the colour challenge from The Paper Players this week.  It was certainly an unusual combinations and I wasn't quite sure how to make it work.  Here it is:

See what I mean?  Well, I was busy making Easter cards for my family, so that was where I started.  I thought the Always Artichoke could be grass, using the Fringe Scissors, and the other two would be good Easter Egg colours, but I just wasn't' sure how they would all go together.

Here's how it turned out:

  • I used the Occasions stamp set, Eggstra Spectacular, for the Easter eggs and the little bunny with the sentiment and the Petite Petals stamp set for the the flowers.  I stamped the eggs in Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana, punched them out with the Extra Large Oval punch and sponged the edges with the corresponding ink colour.  The flowers were inked up in Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana and punched out with the Petite Petals punch.
  • I did use the Always Artichoke cardstock and the Fringe Scissors to make grass.  Sure makes that job quick!
  • The Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon was folded in half and held together by Sticky Strip before mounting it with sticky strip and some glue dots to the grass.
  • The little bunny from Eggstra Spectacular was stamped in Always Artichoke right on to the front panel and a Whisper White Candy Dot becomes his tail!
  • The background DSP is from Fresh Prints.  I debated for a long time over whether to add it or to just use Whisper White cardstock.  Here's what that looked like:
  • To be honest, I'm not sure which I like better.  How about you?  Let me know what you think.

Contest

I wanted to give you a heads up about the Stampin' Up! Retiring Product List.  Stampin' Up! is publishing it on Monday, in preparation for a new catalogue coming out June 2.  Each year some stamps, paper, colours and embellishments retire and will no longer be featured in the Annual Catalogue and will not be available for ordering.

In past years, the stamp sets were available right up until the new catalogue went live and all the other products were only available while supplies lasted.  This year, BOTH stamps and other products will only be available while supplies last.  That means, if something you like is retiring, you'd better get your order in sooner rather than later!  You know how fast those things go!

Just for fun, I'm hosting a contest to see how well you can predict which stamp sets will be retired this year. Send me an email  (hcooper52@gmail.com) listing 10 stamp sets you think Stampin' Up! will retire this year and the person who gets the most correct will win a GIFT CERTIFICATE with a value of $25.00. This could be used right away or saved until June 2 and used for products from the new 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue!  Looking forward to hearing from you.  (Open to Canadian residents only.)  The contest closes Sunday, April 20 at 8 pm PDT.

Serenity is a Happy Little Fringe Flower

Have you found serenity this weekend?  Maybe all you need is a happy little fringe flower!!

I really had some stamping fun yesterday afternoon.  I got back from a wonderful spring walk by the lake and had a great idea for my Freshly Made Sketches entry.  Here's the sketch I was working with:

For some reason, when I first saw the sketch, I thought, "Plumbing!", but then I saw the super Design Team samples and understood the soul of the sketch a little better.

I received a swap card at convention last summer and I was thrilled with the colours and design of it.  It used Island Indigo and Pistachio Pudding and believe it or not, these two colours, joined by Very Vanilla, are beautiful together.  I used them with this card, along with the Serene Silhouettes image and the results are as you see here:

  • The DSP from Venetian Romance combines those three colours as well and is the perfect background for this design.
  • I love this image from Serene Silhouettes and with the background images stamped in varying intensities of Pistachio Pudding (some of them stamped off once or twice), the Island Indigo, being darker, brings that image to the foreground.
  • With my Two-Way Glue Pen, I added some glue to the tops of the flowers and all the little buds and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter over it.  You can just see the sparkle in this photo.  It is much more glittery in real life.
  • The Victorian Crochet Lace Trim suits this project so well, by adding a vintage touch to a delicate design.
  • But the star of the show is that happy little fringe flower that I made using Creped Filter paper spritzed with Island Indigo and Pistachio Pudding reinkers mixed with 70% Alcohol and some Shimmer Paint. It's hard to see here, but it is so shimmery!  And, of course, Stampin' Up!'s Fringe Scissors were instrumental in creating it! (Click the link above for a video tutorial on how to make fringe flowers.)

I also wanted to share with you some photos of my weekend event celebrating my all good customers who purchased a minimum of $60 from me during Sale-A-Bration.  The event was called Celebrate Sale-A-Bration!  We had food, games, make & takes and lots of door prizes.

Here's the cupcake display featuring the July 2013 Paper Pumpkin cake garlands!

This is the Candy Buffet, featuring Mini Eggs and Chocolate Covered Cranberries and Jelly Beans!

One of the games we played was to try and get all the wood mount stamps in the Peaceful Petals set back into the box within 3 minutes.  It's not easy.  I've played with it for a good 10 minutes at time, trying to find the combination that works!  Here's a photo of what it should look like:

I planned to do one game that I completely forgot about when the time came.  It was an Easter Egg Hunt, with the one who found the most eggs getting to pick one of the great door prizes!  Now, my hubby and I have to try and find them all!  And they were the good Cadbury Easter Creme Eggs, as well.  Maybe my mind had a hidden agenda when it kept me from remembering to do that game!!  Ya think??

Thanks for dropping by today!  Hope the rest of your week is awesome!
