Sleigh Ride Edgelits and Winter Wonderland Design Paper

I love that one of the Designer Series Paper sets in the new 2015 Holiday Catalogue has a black, white and gold palette! How cool is that? It's called Winter Wonderland, and it's certainly unconventional! But there are so many beautiful designs to choose from within the set! I chose a black paper with white snowflake designs, and decided to keep to the colour scheme of the paper and do a black and white Christmas card, with a tiny bit of gold thrown in! And I accomplished that using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits dies! So classy, but fun at the same time!

• Notice the narrow border of Gold Foil Sheets that I used. It doesn't give the gold star billing but it has a great supporting role! 
• The snowflake on black design from the Winter Wonderland Designer Series is perfect for an evening sleigh ride, don't you think? It makes the sky so big and prominent, like it is when you're out late on a snowy evening!
• I used the Sleigh Ride edgelits on ever increasing lengths of Whisper White and Basic Black cardstock. I flipped the town edge over to have it in the right location for the other edgelits.
• The black edgelit was placed in the middle for contrast with the sleigh edgelit. You can see the layers quite plainly in real life, but the photo makes it harder to see the contrast that separates them.
• The sentiment, from the Jingle All the Way stamp set, is inked in Versamark Ink and embossed with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder, just to give it a little dimension. The stamp set and the edgelit dies are available together as a bundle so you can save 15%.

Wonderland for The Paper Players

One of the new products from the 2015 Holiday Catalogue from Stampin' Up! is the Sleigh Ride Edgelit Dies. They are so cool because you can layer your paper with them and they have designs such as evergreens, houses and a horse-drawn sleigh. These are perfect for some unique Christmas cards, but they are also handy for everyday cards such as the one I made for The Paper Players new colour challenge. To create this card, I also needed to use a couple of more new products. One is the Jingle All the Way Stamp set which coordinates with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits. I used the fox or coyote image (I'm not sure which it is) from this set. I also used the Wonderland Stamp Set for the foreground trees. As you can see, these are all Christmas products, but are more versatile than just Christmas designs.  Here's the colour challenge from The Paper Players:

And here is the design I came up with:

• I created some borders with the Bermuda Bay card base, a panel of Crumb Cake and another panel of Bermuda Bay. This one was embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, another new product that I was able to obtain with my demo pre-order.  It can represent snow or stars, and here I wanted to use it as stars, for a summer night in the woods. I added a little White Stampin' Chalk Marker on each one to help them show up.
• The tree shapes are both from the same edgelit die, I just reversed the paper after die-cutting. I also used the end of another die (without the shapes) to die cut the third layer.
• I stamped the image from Wonderland in Old Olive ink on Whisper White and hand snipped it and mounted it using Stampin' Dimensionals at the top and Fast Fuse at the bottom, where it is already raised on the three layers of paper.
• The sentiment is from the Project Life Remember This stamp set. I inked it up using Stampin' Write Markers and trimmed it with the Stampin' Trimmer. I used the Washi Label Punch to add the design on the ends of both the sentiment strip and its Crumb Cake backing. I had to add an extra little snip on the top and bottom because the paper was a bit wider than the punch. I added a couple of fibre strands from some Burlap Ribbon behind the sentiment panel using Stampin' Dimensionals to give it some height.
