Mona Lisa and Thank You Time Again

Did you hear that scientists are doing something new to finally figure out who inspired the “Mona Lisa”? They are doing DNA testing on remains from graves in Florence, Italy looking for the remains of who they believe is Lisa del Giocondo. She was the wife of a silk merchant and lived across the street from artist Leonardo da Vinci. If there is a positive match, they will reconstruct the face from the skull!

I went to Paris once!  I only had a day there and no transportation but my own two feet.  So I did a whirl-wind walking tour of the City of Love!  By the end of the day, I was hot, grimy and my feet were killing me, but I had one more stop to make:  The Louvre.  One should never rush through a visit to the Louvre, but I arrived with only about thirty minutes until closing time, so I thought,  "If I can only see one thing here, it's got to be the Mona Lisa!"  So I set out to find her.  And I did, but I got the shock of my life!  She was SOOO small!  I had been expecting at least an 20" x 30" painting.  Instead, it was more like 8" x 10" or smaller!!!

But I can understand Leonardo's choice of small size. I love making little 3" x 3" thank you cards for my customers.  It's fun working with that small a canvas.  You get to highlight smaller stamps that couldn't stand alone except on that small scale.  You can experiment with different colour palettes, and it doesn't take forever.  My customers like them because I always write my message on a post-it note inside so they can reuse the card for their own needs.

Here are some thank-you cards that I made recently for my customers:

I really like the sophistication of Basic Black and Whisper White, but the addition of one of the Flower Shop images, punched out with the Pansy Punch, adds a touch of whimsy!

I was going to use Modern Medley DSP as my background paper, but then I remembered it isn't Black and White, but Black and Very Vanilla, so I went to my favourite spot - the Designer Series Paper Stacks - Neutrals Collection this time, for the Whisper White and Smoky Slate papers.

Aren't these cute?  I got the sentiment from Regarding Dahlias and added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel for some embellishment and voila!  Easy peasy!  Have fun with this!

Just a reminder that you have until Monday to register for my first ever Design 101 course, to help you come up with your very own card designs!  Register here!
