Just One of Those Cards!

Yep!  It's been just one of those cards!  I spent way more time on it than I wanted to and then I decided to redo some of it because I wasn't happy with the results. I'm still not sure I like it.  There are many things I like about it, but I'm still undecided on the whole card.  Here it is:

I designed it for a colour challenge with The Paper Players - Challenge #158.

But the whole thing is like some comedy routine!  Here's my first version:

It was just too busy with the music sheet in the background.  And the vellum feathers were too light for the pastel panel.  I had wanted to try out the masking tape technique, but searching through my hubby's workshop, the closest I could come to masking tape was electrical tape.  It works because it won't stick to the card stock if you remove it right away and don't press too hard, but it gives an entirely different texture.

All you do is cut a piece of tape to the correct width of your panel and press it down on the ink pad then apply it to the paper, rub your finger lightly across it and remove it right away.  It leaves a textured strip of colour.

Then I decided to use a Soft Suede background in place of the music, and make the feathers also in soft suede.  Here's the result:

It was fun creating the feathers.  I stamped three of the Fine Feathers images with StazOn Jet Black onto Soft Suede cardstock and fussy cut them all out.  To make the feather texture, I also cut diagonally from the outside to the middle shaft of the feather, a series of 1/8" wide cuts on both sides of each feather.  I was happy with that.  I took my photos, edited them and uploaded them to my blog page.  I was writing about the challenge when I noticed...

The challenge said Pear Pizzazz, not Pistachio Pudding like I had already used.  (Darn those alliterative colour names- all in P's!!)  Rats!  Back to the design table I went.

I changed both panels with the wrong green and retook more photos and edited them....
That's when I noticed the Soft Suede panel was crooked.  I could not believe it!  I fixed it and started retaking photos, when the batteries died on my camera!  Seriously????

I finally found a couple more with a bit of juice left in them and took the final photos and edited them!  So I'm entering this card, just because I went to too much effort not to, but I don't care if I ever see it again!

Did you ever have a day (card) like that?
