I'm On a Roll

Yesterday I told you about the card from H_ _ _!  Today's card, while not so terrible to make, is continuing to make this week seem like a Series of Unfortunate Events!

(By the way, I highly recommend this series of books, by author Lemony Snickett, if you are frantically searching for a series of books that your child will love reading!  It's like a vocabulary course disguised as a "can't-put-it-down" read!  There's something about injustice and overcoming great odds that gets the emotions working!  You have to finish the series to make sure that the all the wrongs have been righted!)

This card was created for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #167, but by the time it was done and ready to enter, the collection had closed.  I was (Sigh!!)  too late!

I used the White Wash Technique on the Flower Shop flower images.  I tried it on Very Vanilla, instead of Crumb Cake.  It still works, but is more dramatic on the Crumb Cake background.  I was inspired from a card I got in a swap at convention, created by Bonnie Henderson of South Carolina.  She used the same technique, only on Crumb Cake, and also the vellum borders and sentiment.  I used totally different colours and stamps for quite a different look.

How's your stamping coming along?  I hear so often from people who say, "I don't do much crafting at home."  When I ask why they tell me various stories, but most often it's:  "I don't have room for a lot of craft supplies."  or "I just don't have much time to craft."  or "I can't think of what to do on my own."
Do you fall into that category?  It's still SO important to your life that you take the time to be creative, in some way!  Here's an article that explains why.  I may have the solution for you!  Stampin' Up has come up with My Paper Pumpkin, an affordable papercrafting kit that comes to you once a month, in a little orange 10" x 6 1/2" x 1 1/2" box with everything you need to create a cute project like a card, or a mini-album or a banner!  You'll love the projects and it only costs $24.95 which includes shipping!  Even though I have a craftroom full of stamps and equipment, I still look forward to getting mine each month!  To sign up, go to mypaperpumpkin.com and make sure to select me as your demonstrator.  I will send you some photo tutorials with alternative projects you can make with your kit each month if you do.

What's great is that you can put your subscription on hold anytime you need to, and you can cancel anytime you want as well, before the 10th of the month, which is when that month's shipments are finalized.

But if you sign up for it in the month of August, you will get your first two months at half price - $12.50 each!!  So this is the ideal time to start! You must click "Add Promo Code" and then enter the promo code PUMPKINDEAL in the "Promo Code" field when you sign up on the mypaperpumpkin.com website to take advantage of this promotion.  You must join by Saturday, August 31, 2013; 11:50 PM (MT).
