Beautiful Ride Stamp Set for Freshly Made Sketches (Don't Look, Kris!)

I'm on a mission in the next couple of weeks, to use the stamp sets that I haven't used or haven't used very much. One such stamp set is Beautiful Ride from the Occasions Catalogue. I got this set when I went down to Vancouver, Washington in November for the OnStage Local Stampin' Up! Event. It was a give-away, in my event bag. And I haven't inked it up even once! What's wrong with me? Anyway, now is the time for Beautiful Ride to have its moment in the spotlight. I am using the Colour Challenge from Color Throwdown and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for this project:

By the way, if you're my daughter, Kristen, and you've read this far, it's too far. Spoiler Alert! My middle daughter got married in May, a day before our anniversary. It was nine years ago, but it seems like just yesterday. At one time, she was a real fan of Volkswagon beetles and vans, especially ones with hippy graffiti all over them, like these:

So I thought that it would be perfect using Beautiful Ride to make her anniversary card!

  • I stamped the little bug in Memento Tuxedo Black, as it is water based and I can easily clean it off my Photopolymer Stamp set, unlike either StazOn or Stampin' Up!'s Archival Basic Black inks. I actually stamped it on a separate piece of Whisper White so I could stamp some of those little flowers over the image line and then fussy cut it out to give it some dimension.
  • I found the perfect little flower stamp in Sprinkles of Life, another stamp set I haven't used very much this year. I stamped it in all the colours of the Color Throwdown challenge all over the car. The Love stamp is from Beautiful Ride as are the hearts, the kiss kiss, and the Love Bug sentiments. And good old Teeny Tiny Wishes provided the Happy Anniversary!
  • The loving couple I stamped directly on the front panel and then fitted the car in the right place underneath them to make it look as though they were sitting on the roof. (Probably not a good idea - not great for the car roof!) I used Stampin' Write Markers in the challenge colours plus Basic Black to colour in the couple on the roof.
  • The unique shape of the front panel is due to the challenge sketch and underneath, peeking through, is a panel of Pool Party, embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder!
And now, I must wrap it up, because we are going with some friends to see the Lady in a Van, ironically enough! Have a great day!
