This is a bit of a tough couple of weeks for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators! First there is the disappearing inventory, as retiring products really start to disappear and we have to keep our eye on the discontinued list to keep ahead of what is still available. Then we have to weed out all our retired products, but that leaves us with only a little to work with until our own order of new products come in! I'm always short of Designer Series Paper and ribbon and embellishments at this time of year because all of last year's DSP retires and I'm left with only what I could get in the pre-order, which is limited! It makes you creative though! Oh, well, only a week to go before my new stuff arrives!!
It's time for another As You See It Challenge and this time around it's a sketch challenge. It's obviously a sketch I loved because I came up with no less than 3 different designs for it. It was hard to decide which would be the official Design Team sample but with a little advice from the rest of the team, I decided to go with the fox design from the Birthday Delivery stamp set!
Here is Amanda's sketch:
and here are the other two cards I came up with:
I didn't care as much for the flowery one that uses Birthday Blossoms, a stamp set that's a couple of years old already, but I really liked the wood grains and textures from the card that uses the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and the High Tide stamp set, but I think that the fox card just has more pop to it, so I'm using that one!
- The background is from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper and it is included in a 10% off bundle that includes the Birthday Delivery stamp set, the Birthday Friends Framelits and the Designer Series Paper. This is because, for the first time, the framelits actually coordinate with some of the images in the DSP and you can use the framelits to die cut them right out of the paper!! How cool is that?
- Even though I could have die cut the fox right out of the paper, I chose to stamp him and watercolour him myself, using a blender pen and the ink pads.
- The banner itself was formed using a 2" x 5" strip of Dapper Denim and punching one end with the Banner Triple Punch.
- This card has Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper in the background and a Daffodil Delight banner, made the same way as the one above. I added some retired Pool Party ribbon to dress it up though.
- I stamped the sentiment first so I could fit the images around it. I stamped the full blossom first, then stamped another on a post it note and punched it out with the Pansy Punch to use as a mask before I stamped the other blossom and the leaves. They are stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Old Olive. A little splatter is added with the stamp from Timeless Textures.
- For this one I used the Colour Theory Designer Series Paper Stack for the background and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack for the banner and the main image panel. I used the High Tide stamp set for the images.
- The Burlap Ribbon provides some texture.
