Birds & Blooms Thinlits Birthday Card

Yesterday, I was able to play around with two things I've been wanting to use for a while. One was the the Birds & Blooms Thinlits that I've had for an age, but never used. Maybe that's because I thought I needed the coordinating stamp set, Best Birds, in order to use it, and I haven't ordered that one yet. Whatever the reason, I finally got that die set out and took it for a spin. The other thing that I've been dying to use is this beautiful pattern from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper, which is rapidly becoming my favourite from the Annual Catalogue! I took the palette of the whole card from this design, using Pool Party, Powder Pink, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede.

  • I enjoyed creating the bird, by die cutting two, one in Pool Party and one in Soft Suede and saving all the little bits of Soft Suede to embed back in the Pool Party bird. I traced around the outside of the die on some Powder Pink cardstock and hand cut it out inside the line and glued the blue die cut bird on top so that the Powder Pink would show through the speckles on the bird's breast. I covered the Powder Pink layer with Fast Fuse except where the pink would show through and glued the blue layer on top. Then, there was sticky underneath when I went to embed the Soft Suede lines in the wings, tail and head.
  • The branch was created by die cutting it in Soft Suede and Pear Pizzazz and hand trimming the leaves from the Pear Pizzazz copy to add to the Soft Suede branch.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Pool Party. It's from Birthday Blossoms.
  • This is from the inside of the card! I used the same idea, only I used the bird I had die cut in Soft Suede and die cut another in Powder Pink for the lines in the wing. I only added enough Fast Fuse to cover the part of the body that would be covered by the wings.

Time is running out! There are only a few more days during which you can earn bonus days coupons in July to redeem in August! I will be putting in an order this weekend, so message me with your order before then. It must be $60 or more before tax and shipping to earn a coupon. Or shop online at my On-Line Store, 24/7, for the same results!
