One of the nicest benefits of having the Occasions Catalogue in January, is that you get to make springy pictures in the dead cold and dreariness of winter! It gives one hope! We've had a lot of snow, but not the severe cold that people in the eastern half of the continent have been dealing with, so I'm not complaining, but I just like spring, summer and fall better than winter!
I really enjoyed making today's card. It has several features to share with you and each one was a treat to craft! I used different products from the Petal Passion Suite from the Occasions Catalogue including the Petal Palette stamp set, The Petals and More Thinlits and the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper.
- The background is a mixture of Brusho and emboss resist. I first heat embossed the rose image and the polka dot border image in White Stampin' Emboss Powder. I then taped down my Shimmery White cardstock to keep warping to a minimum. I wet the paper using my Aqua Painter, then sprinkled tiny amounts of the Brusho Crystal Colour in Brilliant Red, Moss Green, and Gamboge in the appropriate spots on the background. I used the Aqua Painter to blend some areas a little more and move the colour around a bit, but mostly let the Brusho interact naturally with the water.
- I trimmed down my cardstock and backed it with Basic Black. I mounted it at an angle over some Gold Foil Sheet of the same dimensions and both onto the card base of Basic Black with a panel from the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper.
- I die cut a little leafy branch using the die from the Petals & More Thinlits and Gold Foil.
- The little bird and the sentiment are both from the Petal Palette Stamp Set. I added a little blue colour to the bird with a Pacific Point Stampin' Write Marker and die cut him plus 3 "clones" from Basic Black cardstock then glued all together in a stack with the stamped image at the top and added it to the card front using Glue Dots.
- The gorgeous sentiment was die cut with the shape from the Petals & More Thinlits, but made shorter by die cutting a second time with the end closer in. I did the same with a black backing but made it slightly longer.
