I've been working on reorganizing my craft room (aka my second hobby) to accommodate the Colour Revamp Stampin' Up! has done this year, and besides being frustrated at having 3 more colours so that my current paper and ink storage solutions don't work any more without some compromises, I was able to really look at the new colour families and appreciate them and all the choices that we will have with the new Annual Catalogue come June 1!! When I look at the new families sitting together in my Colour Caddy they just look so inviting and, well, luscious! I can't wait to try them all! And I really do love the new Classic Stampin' Pad configuration. So much simpler and just as functional.
I was planning on trying out a new fancy fold today, one that I watched Julie Davison make in a video tutorial. It's called a Diagonal Fold card, and it's really quite easy to do. I wanted to use some DSP in the back panel, but I needed to use some that haven't sold out yet , and Petal Passion DSP from the Occasions Catalogue is one of the few. With the black and white theme, my choice of colour would be green, so I decided to take a new Bright colour - Granny Apple Green* for a test drive - and I love it!

This fits with the latest The Paper Player's Challenge:
The most CAS part of my card is on the inside, but there are definitely floral elements from the Petal Palette stamp set, so I decided to enter.
- I won't give a ton of details on how to accomplish the diagonal fold, but you can watch Julie Davison's video tutorial, and I'm hoping to do one of my own in the next week or two. Suffice it to say that it is fairly easy to do.
- I stamped the images and sentiment from the Petal Palette stamp set using Basic Black Archival Ink which is an old favourite of mine, but alas, all sold out now. An alternative that we will continue to sell is StazOn Jet Black, and it has the added benefit of that awesome almond smell!
- I squeezed the middle of the Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, and Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pads (new design) to get a spot of ink in the lid and used a fairly dry aqua painter to paint the flowers, leaves and bird on the front panel. I purposely left the painting rather rough and primitive to match the stamping style of the set.
- When you open the card with the diagonal cut in it, the bottom of the green flap is glued to the bottom of the card to form a small side pocket for a Gift Card or Gift Certificate. Another sentiment is stamped at the top of the page. This card would make a great wedding or anniversary greeting. One thing to remember is to only apply glue to the front panel on the top of the diagonal line so that you have no sticky adhesive where you don't have cardstock to support it underneath.
What do you think of the Granny Apple Green? It's perfect for the Brights family isn't it? It takes the place of Old Olive, which has been moved to the Regals.

Very pretty and an interesting fun fold too Heather! I love the Granny Apple Green with the black and white DSP, it's so punchy. A great CAS card. Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteI think Granny Apple Green is going to be a real favourite with everyone - so bright and vivacious. It looks well here, Heather. Interesting fold - I think I'll look at the video. Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players again.
