Lovely Lily Pad with Lily Impressions

It was quite a Sunday for me! I had such wonderful plans of getting a lot accomplished, but alas, it was not to be! So I found myself up really late, finishing off my card for today's post and then writing this. But before I go into why my Sunday didn't go as planned let me show you the lovely things you can make with all the Lily Pad products in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure! For my card today, I used the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set, the Lily Pad Dies and the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper. All are rewards that you can earn just by shopping for your favourite products in the Stampin' Up! Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue or the Stampin' Up! 2019-20 Annual Catalogue! The stamp set and DSP can be earned by spending $60 in one order (before tax and shipping)each. The dies need you to spend $120.

But without further ado, here is the card:

  • You can see one of the designs of the gorgeous hand-painted impressionistic designs of the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper in the background of this card.
  • The border design is die cut from Granny Apple Green cardstock with one of the Lily Pad Dies.
  • The Lily images are stamped in Versamark ink on watercolour paper and embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder. The gold outline really works well with all the rich colours in the background.
  • The two flowers are then watercoloured using Bermuda Bay ink and Aqua Painters. To do this, I first laid down a wash of Bermuda Bay ink with the wet Aqua Painter, not worrying too much about shading. Then I took just a damp Aqua Painter with very little water, if any in the barrel and "dry brushed" on the same Bermuda Bay" but in areas where there would be shadow, such as the center of the plant and any areas where petals overlap.
  • I die cut the large lily and the small bud using the coordinating dies and added the large lily with Stampin' Dimensionals, tucking the bud underneath using Snail or glue dots.
  • The sentiment is from another Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Sending You Thoughts and it has a second part to it for the inside of the card. The second part says "You'd be better already." I punched the outside sentiment out with the Timeless Label Punch.
  • While I was at it, I did another version of the card with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and Melon Mambo ink for painting it in. Which do you like better?

So I had several phone calls and messages that were lovely to have, but overall, had the effect of taking up all the crafting time I had in the afternoon after church and after we got back from shopping for some watercolour painting supplies, as I plan on taking some watercolour classes soon and I got a gift card to a local art store for my birthday. They just happened to be having a sale on watercolour supplies this weekend, ending Sunday, so I had to shop yesterday. Saturday I was doing my big Catalogue Launch so shopping was out that day. (More on that Wednesday)

In the evening we attended a Blanket Exercise event. No, it's not fitness for sleepy people. It's an exercise to begin the process of healing and reconciliation between the "settlers" and the indigenous people of our country, who have been subject to terrible human rights violations that still go on to this day. It's a very powerful event in education and awareness raising, and I'm so glad I attended, but I didn't get home until 9:30 pm and it was at that point that I finished my cards and started writing the blog post.

So, in the interest of the health and happiness of those around me, I will now cut this post short and head to bed! Happy stamping!
