What's New at SU Blog Hop with the Peaceful Poppies Suite

I'm so pleased that you are joining us for our hop. We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ With Exciting Ideas to share with you. Our theme this month is the Peaceful Poppies Suite from the Jan. - Jun. Mini Catalogue! I hope you'll find some exciting ideas to help you!

The products from the Mini Catalogue that I'm using for my project today are the Painted Poppies stamp set and the Poppy Moments Dies. I am also using a label die from the Painted Labels Dies and a sentiment from the Honey Bee stamp set. Here's a closer look:

  • The Peaceful Poppies Suite itself is based on deep, rich colours like Real Red, Poppy Parade, and Blackberry Bliss, and you can find hundreds of examples of those on Pinterest. But I have been loving pastels lately, and wanted to see what this set would look like done up in the less intense colours, so the palette I've used here is Whisper White, Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Pear Pizzazz, with a little Champagne Foil and Basic Black thrown in there.
  • Of course, there was no appropriate paper for a background among the patterns in the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, so I went back to the Annual Catalogue and the Bird Ballad DSP for that sweet border of Petal Pink with white dots.
  • I used the texture stamps from the Painted Poppies stamp set to add the splotches in Petal Pink to not only the white background, but also to the poppies themselves. These were then die cut using the solid poppy dies from the Poppy Moments Dies.
  • The poppy outlines were die cut from Petal Pink cardstock with the poppy outline dies from Poppy Moments as well, glue applied very sparingly, and then they were matched to the solid poppy backgrounds and glued on.
  • The centers of the poppies were die cut from Basic Black cardstock and adhered to the project. The solid leaves were die cut from Soft Sea Foam, while the shadows were die cut out of Pear Pizzazz cardstock, glue applied and stuck to the left side of the solid leaves.
  • The full label was die cut using the smaller label from Painted Labels dies. The sentiment, from Honey Bee stamp set, was stamped on a duplicate label and die cut the same way, then trimmed down smaller to show the border in Champagne foil.
