Curvy Christmas Meets Home Together Dies

curvy christmas meets home together dies 1

I got some new toys to play with last week and just had time to get them out this past weekend. I ordered the Trimming the Town Suite from the Aug/Dec Mini Catalogue. I've been on the fence about this set for weeks, but the scales finally tipped to buying it when I realized that I could combine it with the new Curvy Celebrations Suite that is available for demonstrators to order during October and to customers starting November 3. And that's what happened on this card: the Curvy Christmas stamp set and the Curvy Dies were combined with the Home Together Dies from the Trimming the Town Suite. The combination created this cool Scandinavian-looking design.

Find out which elements came from which suite as we take a closer look:

  • On the Sahara Sand base, I added a piece of Sahara Sand Classic Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper from the Curvy Celebrations Suite (see more about this later in the post.) On this I embossed the curvy star image from the Curvy Christmas stamp set. I waited until I had die cut the curves in the other layers of paper so that I could make sure that stamped image followed the curve of the paper correctly.
  • I used another of the Classic Christmas DSP designs in Cherry Cobbler to cut another layer of paper using one of the Curvy Dies and trimmed it off even with the bottom and the right side of the first DSP.
  • I did the same with another piece of Sahara Sand cardstock.
  • Then I used some Whisper White cardstock and cut a slightly different curve with one of the Home Together Dies from the Trimming the Town Suite. The trees were included in that one. On this I stamped the sentiment from the Curvy Christmas dies. Before inking up the stamp, I laid the clean stamp down and molded it to the curve of the white layer, then picked it up with a clear block. It held the shape through inking and stamping perfectly.
  • To finish it off, I created a little house in Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler using dies from the Home Together set and, after adhering the two layers together, tucked it under the last Whisper White layer.
Speaking of snow layers, I can't believe it tried to SNOW here yesterday! WAY too early! We usually don't have snow until mid-November! That better have been a freak occurance!
