How many of you know what a card swap is? Have you ever gone to a cookie swap? If so, a card swap is very similar. You create as many of one design of card as there are people attending the swap (except for yourself). Then you trade your card for one of each of the other attendees' cards, and you go home with the same amount of cards you came with, only they're all different instead of all the same!
Over this past weekend, for World Cardmaking Day, Oct. 3, me and some of the members of my team decided to do a mail out card swap. We each made a number of all of the same type of card and then mailed them out on Monday to the other members of the card swap. I wanted to share with you the card I made using the Loyal Leave stamp set and an emboss resist technique.
- On a Cajun Craze card base, some In Good Taste Designer Series Paper was layered backed by Early Espresso cardstock.
- Some Very Vanilla cardstock was treated with an embossing buddy to remove static and oil, and then the four leaf images were stamped with Versamark ink and sprinkled with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.
- After heat setting the images with a Heat Tool, the Very Vanilla cardstock panel was sponged with three colours of ink: Crushed Curry, Cinnamon Cider and Cajun Craze.
- When sponging, the sponge is loaded with ink and applied using circular motions. The first couple of circles are off the cardstock on scrap paper to absorb the blob of ink that gathers in the sponge at first.
- The sponging continues until the layer of ink is smooth and continuous and when the different colours have a smooth transition where they overlap.
- A soft tissue removes the ink from the embossed lines.
- The sentiment is from the same stamp set and is stamped in Early Espresso. The leaf layer is popped up on dimensionals.
- The Artistry Blooms Sequins and the In Good Taste Elements in wood embellish the top panel.
Just a reminder that TOMORROW, Thursday, Oct. 8 is the
deadline for signing up for my October Online Technique Class, which this month
is going to be a CHRISTMAS STAMPERS' DOZEN - 12
CARDS - 3 each of 4 designs. You've seen some samples over the last couple
of weeks. To register click HERE. I hope to see you online for that!
