With everyone in the same boat this year, having to stay home for Christmas, with just their own household to celebrate with, as we try to keep the lid on the COVID infections so the healthcare system can cope, I thought it would be a nice gesture to leave some treats on my neighbour's doorsteps, with a little Christmas cheer for them. The Heartwarming Hugs Suite has just the things for that and, even though I only have a few of the products, I decided to use what I had to create some treat holders and carriers.
My plan is to make some hot chocolate bombs and put them in the mini coffee cup (those are retiring, but still available) plus add an extra box or bag of them so everyone in the family can enjoy them. I had some of the treat holders left over from a previous catalogue and wanted to use them up, so I'll fill them with Chocolate Bark candy.
With everything decorated in the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (which ISN'T retiring), and a little 3" x 3" card attached, you have the makings of a really cute neighbourly gift, from our home to theirs!
I also plan on doing my Facebook Live this morning showing you how I figured out how to wrap my containers in the DSP, when I didn't purchase the Warm Wrap Dies. They are not retiring, nor are the mini coffee cups, so I may still purchase them, cause it would be easier!
Here's some closer looks:
- The Mini Coffee Carriers are retiring, but still available and it's super easy to add panels of cardstock backed DSP to the sides. Here are the dimensions: Real Red cardstock panels: 2 of 5 5/8" x 2 1/8" and 2 of 2 5/8" x 2 1/8" Heartwarming Hugs DSP: 2 of 5 1/2" x 2" and 2 of 2 1/2" x 2".
- The panels for the treat holder are created by sacrificing one of them and then cutting open the side panel, trimming it top and bottom by about 1/4" and using that to trace the design on the back of the DSP pattern you want to use and cut it out. Leave a 1/4" flap on one end of the wrap to close it when you wrap it around the treat holder.
- I didn't have any mini coffee cups to spare so I used another paper cup similar in dimension to create a template. Again I added a 1/4" flap on one end to join the ends with.
- The top of the treat cup has a scallop circle from the Layering Circles Dies then a 2" Circle Punch of the striped DSP.
- The 3" x 3" card has the following materials and dimensions: Real Red cardstock: 6" x 3", scored at 3" along the 6" side Heartwarming Hugs DSP - 2 3/4" square piece Whisper White cardstock stamped with the juggling snowman in Memento ink, punched out with the 2" circle punch; and a 2" square on the inside.
