Let's Celebrate Giving the Boot to 2020!

let's celebrate giving the boot to 2020 1

I wanted to design a New Year's card and since we didn't really have a New Year's stamp set this year I had to get a bit creative! After all, if there ever was a New Year's Eve to celebrate, it has to be the turning over from 2020 to 2021, right?! I mean with the vaccines starting to roll out now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, if we can just hang in there a little longer!

I picked and chose from several different sets: Itty Bitty Christmas and Band Together stamp sets for the sentiments, Whiskey Business for the stamped image, Stitched Stars Dies for the stars, the retired Little Numbers dies for the year, and the Wonder of the Season Specialty Designer Series Paper for the background.

  • I'll be recreating this card in my Monday Morning Facebook Live today at 11 am, and then I will upload the replay to YouTube and post it here.
  • I'll include materials & measurements here:
Basic Black cardstock: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" on the 8 1/2" side.

                                 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" for the embossed sentiment

Black script pattern from the Wonder of the Season Specialty DSP: 5" x 3 3/4"

Basic White: 3/4" x 3 1/8" for the sentiment; 4 1/4" x 5" for the images.

Brushed Metallic Cardstock: Brass - 4" x 6"   Silver Foil Sheet - 4" x 4"

Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon - 3 3/4"

Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool

Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Versamark Ink, Mango Melody Stampin' Blends Combo, Pool Party Stampin' Blends Combo, So Saffron Light Stampin Blends, Paper Snips, Little Numbers Dies, Stitched Stars dies, 1 1/2" Circle Punch.

  • I had to mask part of the Celebrate sentiment on the stamp to isolate just the Celebrate word to use.
  • The old, retired Little Numbers dies leave the big bumps on the foil from the holes in the dies. This doesn't happen in newer die sets like the Playful Alphabet Dies, which would be a better choice. I think of them as marquis lights! Right?

These little machines are fully functional versions that can die cut and emboss, but with dies and embossing folders scaled for the size of the cutting platform of the "Baby Boss", whose real name is the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss. The catalogue number is 150673 and the retail price will be $82 CAD. It comes with the standard platform and cutting pads and a regular embossing plate and 3D embossing plate.
