Magnolias for Kylie's Demonstrator Training June Blog Hop

Thanks for stopping by!  Today I'm participating in Kylie's Demonstrator Training Blog Hop.  I'm so excited to be part of this training program and happy to participate in my second Blog Hop with them! The purpose of the group is for the group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators that are part of the program...to share ideas and to learn from each other...to help us in our Stampin' Up! Business.

Today you will "hop around the world" and check out the amazing projects created by these very talented demonstrators.  You are currently visiting Heather Cooper from British Columbia, Canada.  Please take some time to check out all of the blogs on the list below!

I'm using the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set for my sample today. I've paired it up with some Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. Here it is:

  • On the card base of  Crumb Cake cardstock, I added a piece of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper, a delicious striped pattern in Petal Pink.
  • On top of that I wanted a real kraft coloured background so I cut down one of the Magnolia Lane Memories & More Large Specialty Cards to get that panel to display the magnolia on.
  • Some Petal Pink 5/8" Organdy Striped Ribbon is added to the kraft panel before adhering it to the card base.
  • I used the Stamparatus to stamp the large magnolia image from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The Stamparatus is a real bonus with a large stamp like this, because if any area is not inked up evenly, or if some area gets unequal pressure, it's no problem to restamp the image to get the coverage you need. It was die cut using the Magnolia Memory dies. Using the same dies, some silver foil leaves were also die cut.
  • I used the Petal Pink Stampin' Blends Combo and the Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends Combo alcohol markers to colour in the image. My technique is to use the dark shade marker to colour in the shaded areas of the image and the light shade marker to blend over the dark marker areas and out into the lighter areas. For the leaves, that filled up the whole area, but for the petals I left some white. The center was the Daffodil Delight Combo.
  • The sentiment is also from the Good Morning Magnolia set and was die cut using the double label dies from the Frosted Bouquet Dies.
  • The flower had the silver leaves attached to it using glue dots and the whole thing added to the card front using dimensionals.

Peekaboo Slider Card for Mother's Day

My upcoming Technique Night classes have Mother's Day as their theme and for one of the cards that we are going to do for this class, I wanted to feature a fancy fold card to make the technique a little more interesting. This fancy fold is known as a Peekaboo Slider Card and you'll see why in these photos:

As you open the card, a hidden massage, is revealed in the sentiment circle, as a new panel slides into place. It's not a difficult technique, but it does require you to get everything lined up well and adhered securely.

  • The stamped embellishments I used for the front of the card came from an old friend, the First Frost stamp set, which carried over from the Holiday Catalogue, and coordinates with the Frosted Bouquet Framelits, which also carried over. They are still some of my favourite images and came to mind immediately when I thought of Mother's Day.
  • The sentiments are from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue. It has some Mother's Day specific sentiments as well as some that fit generically for any women. It's a great set to have in your collection.
  • Merry Merlot, Petal Pink, Grey Granite and Gold Foil Sheets make a great colour palette. So rich and elegant and great for florals and foliage.
  • I made the frames around the window openings with Gold Foil Sheets. I punched out the openings with the 2" Circle Punch and then used the Layering Circle framelit that was slightly larger to cut out a frame over it using the Gold Foil. Worked like a dream. When applying it to the window area, I added the liquid glue with a narrow bead around the edge of the hole to be covered and then carefully laid the Gold Foil frame down on the area to be framed, lining up the inside of the hole.

The video I used to learn how to do this fancy fold is one of Dawn Griffiths and you can follow it here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zhrg2zc5ocA

Right now you can purchase the new Stampin' Storage for your inks and markers:

**Just a heads up: The new ink pad storage shelves will not accommodate the old style ink pad, just the new style brought out in 2018.

Recapping My Favourites from the Holiday Catalogue - Frosted Floral

The Frosted Floral Suite
Well, you've been able to purchase products from the Holiday Catalogue for two months now and I've been working with them for three months. There are two more months left to purchase from this catalogue and I thought that this week I would do a little mid season review of my favourite products from it. I'm starting with my favourite suite, maybe of all time: The Frosted Floral Suite!

If you haven't purchased anything from it yet, I'm standing here with my jaw dropped, gasping, "Why on earth not?" I cannot remember a suite of products that allowed me to create such beautiful cards before, even Everything Eleanor!! The paper alone, the Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper, is just gorgeous, with beautiful colours and watercolour patterns, and a shimmer that photography just can't capture. You have to see it in person.

The First Frost stamp set has a series of flower and plant images rendered in a beautiful watercolour style that take your breath away, they are so artistic. And the Frosted Bouquet Framelits not only easily coordinate with these images plus add one more of baby's breath, there is also a sentiment frame with an inner frame and it's the perfect size for the larger rectangular sentiments that we've needed for a long time!

Finally, the embellishments, including the Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon, the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets and the Iridescent Boxwood Wreaths add elegant touches to any creation.
Let me share a few of the creations I've made using this suite and link you back to their original posts:

What you may have noticed was that none of these were Christmas Cards. Just let the Christmas part go when considering the purchase of this suite. It is versatile enough to be added to your regular collection, and will, in fact, become one of the most valuable parts of it.

And while we're on the subject of valuable sets to add to your collection, right now there is a really great set that is only available for a limited time - the end of November to be exact OR until supplies last! It's got the definitive snowflake collection, but it's also versatile enough to last year round, by turning the snowflake shapes into flowers. It's the Snowflake Showcase, which includes the Snow is Glistening stamp set and the Happiness Surrounds stamp set and the coordinating Snowfall Thinlits plus some great accessories. Check it out below:

Let me know which of these great products you would like to order, and don't wait until they are sold out!
