Kinda Eclectic for Freshly Made Sketches

Despite having family here for Easter Weekend, going to a birthday party, having two performances of our play Easter morning, and playing with my grandsons, I managed to get a little stamping time in last night. When I saw the sketch for this week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge, it made me think of the Kinda Eclectic stamp set. Although I turned the sketch topsy turvy, it still works well.  Here's the layout:

While I was at it, I threw in the colour challenge over at Colour Throwdown Challenges:

This is a pretty unusual colour palette, with the warm, warm oranges and yellows and the very cool green. Here's how I combined the two challenges:

  • The yellow I used is Crushed Curry because it's the warmest yellow I have. I was also able to find a piece of DSP from Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper that also uses Crushed Curry and added it to the card front.
  • Most of the images are from Kinda Eclectic stamp set,  but the three flowers at the bottom left are from the Everything Eleanor stamp set. They were stamped twice each in Cajun Craze and Tangerine Tango,  and once in Crushed Curry. Then they were fussy cut by hand twice, once around the outside edge and then around a smaller flower set inside the larger one. They were mounted on the larger flowers using a Stampin' Dimensional. The yellow flower, as it is single bloom, was cut in half and tucked under the other two. They were mounted with Glue Dots.
  • The leaves from Kinda Eclectic were stamped in Pistachio Pudding and the sentiment in Tangerine Tango.

Good News from Stampin' Up!:

All this week, from Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10, there will be free shipping on everything! Why not take advantage of it to stock up on the 2013 - 2015 In Colours, which are due to be retired this year in June. I don't know about you, but I'm finding it difficult to know how I will survive without Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe? Even Pistachio Pudding will be missed!
